Often called the Historic Heart of San Diego, the Gaslamp Quarter is the main dining and entertainment district of the city. With more than 150 bars and restaurants and 94 registered historic buildings, this nightlife playground has a lot to see and do, as well as a fascinating past. The Brothels, Bites and Booze tour will introduce you to the beginnings of San Diego as a port town – learn why it became one of the more notorious red light districts of its time, and find out how this once-undesired neighborhood became a fun and vibrant nightlife destination for both locals and visitors. After meeting your guide, you’ll embark on a journey of scandalous tales, unique cocktails and local cuisine. On the tour, you’ll make new friends, hear interesting stories, sing karaoke and explore new tastes at local restaurants*.

Had an awesome time on the Brothels, Bites and Booze tour with Magda as our guide. We went at night, right after New Year’s, and even though the weather wasn’t perfect, I honestly didn’t care because the tour was so much fun. Magda was awesome -she’s friendly, super engaging, and you can tell she actually loves sharing these stories. Walking through the Gaslamp at night was a cool way to see the city. The mix of history, food, and drinks made it way more interesting than the usual tourist stuff. Each restaurant had something tasty, and the drinks were just enough to keep things lively without going overboard. Listening to the history and old stories about the neighborhood made me see San Diego in a totally different way.

It was fun and we learned cool things about Gaslamp! Magda our tour guide was very nice and took us to some nice places to eat and drink. It was a good way to check out different places to eat. I really liked the Irish bar. The history of Gaslamp is interesting. I could envision the past through Magdas stories. I recommend this tour.

Who knew there’d be so much history in the Gaslamp district! Our guide Blerta unfolded each fact-filled story in a fun and engaging manner and she was ready to answer all of our questions. The evening stroll was leisurely and everything seemed to light up even prettier because it was dark by the time we were done. Food and specialty drinks were a big hit - big enough samples to where you didn’t feel stuffed yet tempting enough to where you want to go back the next day to check out the menus from the places we visited. You also get plenty of insider information that only a “local” would know. Thank you Blerta for a wonderful evening . . . It was a perfect kickoff activity for our San Diego adventure.

When one tour was cancelled, the company invited us to switch to a different tour. They sent us the outline and description for the new tour and we agreed to switch. The new tour was NOTHING like the description they sent and we felt like it was a bait and switch situation. We sent a note outlining why we didn't like the tour we were switched to (didn't match the description we were sent) and were told someone from their management team would contact us. 5 days later ~ we have not heard from them.
