In this trip we will explore the unknown part of Gjirokaster, the magic of the town that every tourist skips. We start from the center of the old town the “Cerciz Topulli Square” and head towards The “Old Bazaar” which is not a Bazaar anymore. This is the first neighborhood outside the walls of the castle and lies along beneath the Castle walls. The characteristic cobblestone and some of the oldest houses are the most beautiful elements of this neighborhood. After passing the “Zerzebili” bridge, we reach another ancient neighborhood in town called “Cfaka”. Here we will pass some old houses which are first monument category and also a tekke which belongs to the Bektashi Order. It is a beautiful combination of Nature, many sheep on top of hills, and old houses to arrive in our last destination, the “Ali Pasha Bridge”.

We had the exceptional opportunity to experience this hike with Besi, a guide as brilliant as warm. Curious, passionate and incredibly cultured, he has transformed our walk into a true immersion in the history, culture and soul of the Albanian people. More than just a visit, this hike was a remarkable human encounter, rich in exchanges and discoveries. The course is perfectly rhythmic: stimulating walking moments interspersed with welcome breaks, always adapted to the group. As for the landscapes... what to say, except that they are simply breathtaking! As soon as you leave the beaten path of the small bazaar, you are immersed in a spectacular and preserved nature, full of charm and authenticity. We recommend this experience 1000%. If you’re looking for a unique, humane and rewarding adventure, head out with your eyes closed. A huge thank you to Besi for this timeless moment! Besi was a really nice dude and a good guide. We saw some interesting places and learned a lot. It was a really hot day and he made sure that we could stop and relax, buy water or whatever we needed. We could ask him anything, and honestly, it felt like hanging out with a friend. Really recommend this guided tour.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience walking through the streets and historic sites with a local tour guide. There is nothing compared to having a guide from the city provide a local perspective. Our guide was very knowledgeable, pleasant, entertaining, and flexible. We had a great time, learned a lot, and highly recommend.

The guide was so good. He explained the history of the town very well. It was obvious that he liked the history of his own town.
