Your day begins with a scenic drive from Tirana, Durrës, or Golem toward southern Albania. The journey to Gjirokastra takes around four hours in total, offering beautiful countryside views along the way. During the drive, your tour guide will share interesting stories, local legends, and fun facts about Albania’s history and culture.

Ardenica Monastery

Our first stop will be at the Ardenica Monastery, a peaceful and spiritual place located on a hill surrounded by olive trees. You’ll have about 30 minutes to explore the site, admire the impressive frescoes, and enjoy the panoramic views over Myzeqe plain. The monastery dates back to the 13th century and is famous as the place where Skanderbeg, Albania’s national hero, was married.

It is a very long bus tour but Girocastra is worth it. Our guide Bledi did his best to make you more comfortable. A highly recommended excursion

Today we visited the Ardenica monastery and the UNESCO town Gjirokastra with this tour. It was wonderful. From Tirana to Gjirokastra we enjoyed the Albanian landscape and our guide told us interesting facts about the places, about the Ardenica Monastery and about Gjirokastra. In Gjirokastra we also saw the bazar, the castle and we had some private time, we decided to taste some local food. It is really a trip that I recommend, thanks Bledjan for the great tour!

Gjirokaster is a really pretty and tiny village, the guide was very prepared and gave us some details not only of the city but of all Albania.

Gjirokastër is absolutely worth the long drive from Tirana, absolutely gorgeous historical city! Unfortunately I don’t feel there’s enough time in the city, but that can’t really be helped if you’re coming from Tirana due to the distance. Bledi was a fantastic guide too, he was knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour and brought an interesting local perspective to the stories of the region we travelled through!

Good day out.. Noel was our tour guide. Full of knowledge about the country. Nothing was too much trouble and he was nice and polite. Its a long day but some nice views on the journey.

Gjirokastra Castle is an impressive historic site, filled with tunnels, hidden areas, and fascinating architecture, each part of the castle reflects its rich past. Our guide, Noel, made the visit even more engaging with his detailed knowledge and interesting facts, helping us understand the castle’s history more clearly. It was an educational and memorable experience that I highly recommend.
