  This whale tour was everything and then some. Vanessa, our guide, was an absolute force of nature. Full of energy, wildly knowledgeable, and so clearly in love with her job that it was impossible not to get swept up in it. I learned so much without ever feeling like I was being lectured. It felt more like being let in on very cool ocean secrets by someone who genuinely can’t believe this is their job. The whales showed up, showed off, and Vanessa made the whole experience unforgettable. If you’re even thinking about booking, stop thinking and do it. The ocean understood the assignment and so did this team.

  Fabulous experience! Our guides picked us up promptly at 5:30am at our hotel. From there we drove about 1 hour+ to a little restaurant on the side of the road where our pre-ordered breakfasts awaited us.......the food was fantastic! Home made by 2 lovely ladies with fresh tortillas - sooo good! After breakfast, we drove another half hour to the boat launch. Make sure you have small change in Mexican dollars to use the bathrooms (very clean/10 $) We then took a 1/2 hour ride to the gray whales......Wow! They were everywhere! The "Spy hopping" was incredible. And to see the babies with their Mothers.....too sweet. It's a lifetime experience. Baja Sur Tours made it easy and special. After watching the whales, we returned to our van where each couple had a cooler of drinks waiting for them. (The drinks they ask you about on the list that they send you) It was nice to have that personalization. A beautiful ride back to La Paz through the desert made for a wonderful day. We would do it again!

  We saw lots of whales and tour guide was amazing. This is the second year I have used this tour company and will again, They gave us all the photos they took which was a big plus. Guide very professional and experienced. She went above and beyond so everyone had a great experience.

  This trip was on my bucket list and it did not disappoint. Being able to get up close and personal with the gray whales was a dream come true. My husband booked this trip for my birthday and I could not have asked for more. We had many contacts with Jahaziel from Baja Sur Tours before we left home. He answered all of our questions and was very responsive. Jahaziel made us feel very comfortable using Baja Sur Tours. Our guide, Dalia, was excellent! Her English was great and she gave us so much information about the whales as we were traveling to Puerto Chale in a very comfortable van. On the way we stopped for breakfast at a tiny place in the middle of nowhere. The sweet woman who cooked our food made machaca burritos that were delicious. The trip was very well-organized and we only had 3 other travelers on board our panga boat so we had plenty of room to see the 100s of whales that surrounded us. Everywhere you looked they were swiming by, spouting water all over us, and spy-hopping to take a look at us! We just couldn't believe we were right there in their midst! We had the BEST experience and we highly recommend this tour company if you want to see gray whales in their natural habitat.

  I wouldn't go with anyone else! I've been enjoying tours with Baja Sur Tours since 2017 and the gray whale watching experience from La Paz is truly life changing. Not only do you have a very good chance for close encounters that can include petting a whale (just did that with this trip yesterday!) but guides are marine biologists with a ton of in-depth knowledge about the whales and the region. ¡No iría con nadie más! He estado disfrutando de tours con Baja Sur Tours desde 2017 y la experiencia de avistamiento de ballenas grises desde La Paz realmente me cambia la vida. No solo tienes muchas posibilidades de tener encuentros cercanos que pueden incluir acariciar a una ballena (¡lo hice ayer con este viaje!), sino que los guías son biólogos marinos con un conocimiento profundo sobre las ballenas y la región.

  Amazing experience. We did the regular grey whale watching - meet at Puerto Chale. Communication before was quick and detailed so we knew what to expect. On the day our guide and captain were fantastic. Not only super knowledgeable but also genuinely enthusiastic and excited when we saw whales. Highly recommend - the price is great and the people are friendly - they just want to make sure you have a great experience (the whales also wanted to make sure we had a great experience!)
