  Half day tour is not enough time to snorkel and do the semi-submersible. Snorkelling from the island was also quite a let down - not a great deal to see. However we did spot several turtles from the jetty which was awesome.

• Waste of time and money to see nothing clearly.

  Totally underwhelmed. Had really looked forward to seeing the reef and fish but whole experience was a complete waste of time as all we saw was green coloured fish and coral. Guide said the coral is colourful but we saw nothing but green. In my oppinion Green island not the place to view the reef as such poor quality water and visibility.   If you book the semi submersible which is really good the time you have on the island for snorkelling is very limited. We arrived around 2pm with the semi submersible trip at 2.45pm. By the time you are ready to snorkel you only have 20 minutes.

  I thought this trip was going to be one where they take you out on a boat and then do snorkelling. That didn’t happen. They left us at Green island with the snorkelling equipment. I mean, at least we can snorkel there, and explore Green island? Wrong. The sea at Green island was muggy, and we only saw 2 types of fish. There was no coral whatsoever. The most we saw was grass 5cm tall. Everyone we talked to said they had the same experience. It was a waste of time. If we have to snorkel without a guide or any past experience, at least drop us at a good place to snorkel! Had a very bad experience. Would not recommend this company at all. We didn’t get a chance to experience a World Heritage Site because of them.

• A good half day trip (4 hours from Cairns back to Cairns)

  Was a nice way to spend a half day (4 hours) was on the 1pm boat over to Green island and boat leave Green island at 4.15pm returning to cairns approx 5pm depending on the conditions. I opted for the glass bottom boat and was lucky to see alot of fish, a shark and different corals. Was a windy day so seas were a little choppy that cant be helped the skippers did a wonderful job of the boats and explaining options for activities on Green island and the glass bottom boat skipper also did her best with getting us to a good viewing point so we got to see as many fish and corals as we did. Green island does have facilities to purchase food and drink of you wish. Bathrooms are also avaialbe. I didnt notice any recycling bins for empty cans or bottles. Perhaps there is a recycling sorting system in place? Was a good was to spend afew hours. Rain forest has a board walk through a small portion of it if you wish to also have a wonder through the rainforest. I did this solo, could be done with friends / couples or families.   Travelers needs to know more deeply about the tour, unfortunately it's not well explained especially when you pay it...we paie enough for we have done...

  Did half day trip but should have booked a longer trip as only had about 20mins snorkelling as had to get back to boat for submersible trip.

  Do the semi sub. It’s awesome. We saw so many fish and coral and sharks and we had one huge black fish swim right beside our window for the entire event. Try to get on first and go right to the front of the sub. It’s the best view ( 2 forward windows and a left and right one). The snorkelling I would pass on. There’s not enough time to enjoy it . Mind you we did a half day event. Maybe a full day would be better. By the time you disembark and walk down the pier and then put your protective suit and flippers on you get maybe 15 mins in the water before you have to get out and run for your semi-sub slot time which you definitely don’t want to miss. There’s nothing in the snorkelling you will see like you will on the sub. In fact we didn’t see anything. We did see a sea turtle when we walked along the pier. They should have a two hour sub ride and no snorkelling as an option. Good luck. And enjoy.

  

  

• Sailed out to Green...

  Sailed out to Green Island very quickly only 45 mins. Very friendly and helpful crew. Definitely hire snorkel equipment on the boat much cheaper than on the Island. Book the glass bottom boat tour too as you see the Reef and huge amounts of fish and sharks. The crew are very knowledgeable and friendly. The Island is very beautiful and we had a dip in the warm sea. There is a swimming pool on the island so great for kids. There are also cafes and bars not too pricey and plenty of choices. There are convenient changing rooms and showers and toilets so very well organised without compromising the environment.You can also walk around the island it’s paved so suitable for wheelchairs and push chairs all in all a great day out and well worth the money.
