What To Expect

We start on foot from the main square of the historic center, Piazza Vittorio Veneto, with a panoramic view of the Sasso Barisano. Continue through the historic center until you reach Piazza Duomo where it will be possible to view the Cathedral externally and then enter the Sasso Caveoso.

5.00Great starting point and guide gave lots of good info and got us into the cave house and church quickly- bypassing all the people without tours and even getting ahead of some other groups as well. Great value for the price and the amount of time for the tour was perfect. We actually ended a bit early but that was fine by us also!

5.00Our guide spoke excellent English and knew a lot about the Sassi and Matera. It was a very enjoyable tour and in my opinion the best way to visit Matera.

5.00A tour of the entire Sassi area was excellent. Our guide Patrizia was very good and spoke English very well. We ended up walking around for 2.5 hours and felt we really got a great overview of the entire place.
