The half day guided sea kayak trip is an ideal opportunity to fit a little kayaking adventure into a busy day – or for those just wanting a taste of sea kayaking.

Our priority is to get you out on the water, allowing maximum time to enjoy the tranquil waters of the Queen Charlotte Sound. Your guide will enjoy sharing their knowledge of the Marlborough Sounds and it's native flora and fauna as you paddle along. The area is surrounded by bush-clad shorelines and sandy beaches. We’ll stop for a light refreshment break along the way before returning to Picton.

Join this half day guided day trip (departs at 8.30am and 12.30pm) for a 3.5-4 hour through the Grove Arm of Queen Charlotte Sound. This is a magical place to paddle, sandy beaches and bushclad shorelines just a one hour paddle from Picton. The trip ends at Ngakuta Bay where you return to Picton by van.

We did the half-day kakay trip and we LOVED it! It went by very quickly -- and it's not very hard for those of us who might not have a lot of arm strength! Our guide was Hannah and one of the things we enjoyed most about her is that she truly loves her job as well as living in New Zealand. She was also very patient with the other couple who joined us and did not speak English very well. We saw a lot of birds, and stingrays. The water was so clear, and the scenery was beautiful. This was a fun way to see Charlotte Sound from a lot of different perspectives.

The kayaking with the Marlborough Sounds Adventure Co was fantastic! Our guide, Hannah, was so patient and helpful, teaching my wife and I the basics of ocean kayaking, which we had never done before. We had so much fun kayaking through the Marlborough sound and being able to view the sound from the water. We left the town of Picton and kayaked through the sounds to a small beautiful beach, viewing amazing wildlife and scenery along the way. The tour was great for beginner kayakers as well. It was a fantastic experience that has been one for the main highlights of our trip in New Zealand!

We had great weather and Andy couldn’t have been more accommodating with storing our mountain bikes we had with us. And overnight as well after our kayak. Thank you Jordan for sharing your knowledge of the Sounds. We really enjoyed our excursion on the sea.

Really great trip if you don’t have time for the full day version. You get a good taste of the Marlborough Sound and Tom was excellent at pointing out all the different wildlife along the way. Tom was also really good at managing the group in the challenging headwind conditions and made sure there were frequent breaks. Was also a really nice touch that they provided cakes as a snack along the trip. Equipment was all in good condition and easy to use.

We had a great tour. Our guide Jason was very competent and friendly. We learned a lot about Picton and the surrounding area. We did the half-day tour and even had a small picnic. The company really wanted us to have a great experience on a personal level, which made us feel very welcome.

We experienced the perfect weather for our half day. The water was calm. Our guides were knowledgeable and very communicative. The oat slice was a yummy special treat!

My friend and I recently did the half day sea kayaking tour. We were lucky and had a glorious sunny day, which meant that it did not get too cold despite it being quite windy at times! Our tour guide, Hannah, was very knowledgeable and she did an excellent job teaching us about the local area and ecosystems while we kayaked up and down the sounds! If you’re in the Picton area I would definitely recommend adding this to your list of activities!

Tom made it fun and safe. He instructed us on equipment used and the basics so that when we got out into the water we were ready. The result was everybody had a great time. We did a one way Kayak through many inlets and bays Lots of beautiful views and we saw some stingrays. It was a fantastic day.

Easily located right by the dock. Staff and guide were very laid back and very informative making you feel relaxed and welcome. Actual kayak tour was longer than expected , which was great as overall experience was fantastic. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Picton as this is a must .

Booking the trip was efficient and seamless. Finding the location when we arrived in Piction was easy. Our tour guides Caleb and Tom were fantastic. We had Caleb who took us through the safety and kayak set up process, very clear directions and his communication skills were first class. The trip was 10km and we cruised at a good pace with excellent knowledge from both Caleb and Tom of our surroundings. Would highly recommend the trip.
