  A great morning to Ilfracombe on ther historic train. Wandering along the mile of machinary was fascinating. Then to the Wellshot Hotel for lunch and drinks, where we were entertained by Robby the train driver- donations required for the flying doctor to throw up and fix to the ceiling with all the other donations. Typical Queensland outback pub. great lunch and I enjoyed every minute.

  Family trip on the train to Ilfracombe was a fantastic day. The clickity clack of the train, kids going up with Rob to have a look how he drives it, everyone was included. We arrived to have a look around at Machinery Mile and the Wellshot Centre to learn about the history of the area. Following by a delicious lunch at the Wellshot Hotel. Nice relaxing day.

  $399 for a family ticket to travel 27km Longreach to Ilfracombe to see the (free of charge) mile of machinery and visit the Wellshot Pub. Includes 1 each complimentary drink (no meal). Are you serious?? $129 per adult $99 per child. Just to provide some perspective. Train Longreach to Brisbane = $285 distance 1176kms. We chose to save $400 and just drive the 20mins and enjoy the mile of machinery which is just marvellous. And we got to see a virtually empty train along the way. We really like Longreach but don’t understand why places think that an average of $400 per family of 4 is reasonable.

  Train trip from Longreach was nice, but you could have driven it in 20 minutes. Basically walked the main street looking at old machines tractors etc. Looked forward to lunch at the pub which supposedly was a ploughman's lunch. Was a dagwood dog 2 small hash brown's a bit of cold meat an something resembling coleslaw. What a shocker. For $129 this was disgusting. Would never recommend.

  Family trip, with 3 children. The train journey was great (will do a longer trip next time). Ilfracombe was lovely, would suggest going with guide to start. The pub offered a lovey lunch and it had a nice atmosphere. The guide was awesome, highly recommend.
