Water Puppetry is a traditional art form with distinctive culture identity of Vietnam. It came into existence, developed and diversified over a thousand years ago in the Red River Delta. I paid. The ticket was waiting for me when I arrived at my hotel. Went to the theatre. Skipped the queue. Went straight upstairs. Was directed to take my seat in the front row. Couldn’t have been easier.

Came to see the water puppets as it’s a Hanoi tradition. 45 min show. Spoken words are not in English so opt for an audio guide otherwise you won’t know what’s going on.

Interesting show and only 50 mins long. Good to see but not sure i would go back again. Seen it once and that's probably enough!

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the water puppet show in Hanoi really impressed me! The performance was full of charm and creativity. The live music and singing added so much atmosphere and authenticity – it was a beautiful blend of traditional instruments and vocals. The puppets themselves were funny, expressive, and incredibly entertaining. I was amazed by the technique behind the scenes – how they moved so smoothly and told stories with such humor and heart. The puppeteers did a fantastic job bringing everything to life. It’s a unique cultural experience you shouldn’t miss. Great for all ages and truly one of the highlights of my visit to Hanoi. Highly recommended!
