The trip to the glacier and the dog sledding was worth every penny! It's not too arduous either for a softie like me. The pilot and staff at the sledding camp were informative and good fun. Plenty of photo opportunities. A great experience.

One word-SPECTACULAR! What a great experience! The mushers, the camp, and of course the dogs! Watching the mushers with the dogs, they clearly have a bond with the animals and make you feel quite at home learning about the life of a musher. Did I mention puppies?! :)

Incredible experience. First time in a helicopter for my boys! We were blessed with an amazing weather day in June 2025 so we had bright skies. Sunglasses are a must! We flew up tot he dog camp and we were lucky to have Delta take us around as our musher. She gave both of my boys a turn as the trailing sled "musher" which was an incredible experience for them. The dog camp is at over 3000 feet and you walk on snow then we flew down to around 1500 feet to the lower glacier to walk around and enjoy stepping on an actual glacier! What an adventure for my family!

So apparently 20% of these tours get cancelled due to weather (per Josh, their head reservations person). I get it, nobody wants to go in a helicopter in bad weather. Our weather wasn’t raining but it was cloudy. We met the tour in Juneau by the tram. They got us checked in and then we stood around for about 20 minutes chatting with staff, who were all very friendly. Then out of nowhere, they told us all the tours for the day had been cancelled. For reference the weather didn’t change. It was cloudy when we checked in and cloudy when we were told it was cancelled. Since we weren’t leaving until late the next day, we were hopeful we could get on another tour. But after checking with their staff, we were told we should just go whale watching instead. So since we had nothing else planned (since this was supposed to last four hours) we booked a last minute whale watching excursion with one of the companies on the dock. It was nothing special, but 1/4 of the cost of the helicopter/dog sled excursion. Then we found out from another couple that was on the whale watching excursion that they had been scheduled on the same dog sled tour as us, but they were at the airport where the company HQ is instead of in downtown. They were assigned to another tour tomorrow. So my advice: don’t plan a (very costly) day in Juneau for this excursion. And if you do, make sure you’re meeting them at their HQ instead of elsewhere in case you get cancelled and (hopefully) can try to rebook.

If you can muster up the courage, this is a bucket list trip worth taking while in Alaska. We were very nervous about taking the flight, but YOLO and thought if we wanted to see sled dogs in the snow and a glacier up close, we’d have to hope that everything would go smoothly! The short flights to and from the glacier over the water and into and back from Herbert Glacier were spectacular - truly highlighted the natural beauty of Alaska that can’t be easily viewed any other way. The Alaskan husky dogs were fun, and their energy was electric since they amp each other up before the ride. We even got to meet some Iditarod veterans and a younger puppy. We didn’t have the most perfect weather when turning into the glacier (a little drizzly and misty), but our pilot was skilled, collected and professional. Our pilot kept us calm with his collected and focused demeanor and reflective explanations of the journey, including what he was doing and what we were seeing (keeping the window open momentarily for visibility and to prevent condensation). When we landed beneath the cloud layer right in the glacier, we had the sunniest, clearest visibility and met with the most gorgeous of sites. Bring sunglasses, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, gloves and a straw to try the refreshing and clean glacial water!

I booked the excursion because it’s much cheaper than the cruise ship was selling it for. The experience is amazing. The extra glacier walk is definitely worth it. Highly recommend if you’re coming on a cruise ship to experience Juneau.

5 Star excursion! Nico was our pilot. He drove so smoothly and really made this tour an unforgettable experience for our family. The area the dog camp was in was breathtaking, located right beside a glacier. We drank glacier water (bring an empty water bottle to put it in) and walked around an icefield. This started off our cruise vacation in the best way ever. Thank you for the incredible memory our family got to share together.
