Travelers can leave the suitcase they do not wish to take on the tour at the Expotur main office at no additional cost. If you do not plan to return to Santa Marta on the last day of the tour, we can send your suitcases to the final point of the route in EL MAMEY where you can pick them up and then be taken to your destination.
It is recommended to have the yellow fever vaccine as a preventive measure for the tour

Everything begins around 9:30 am at the Expotur office where in a 4 × 4 truck we take a 2 ½ hour course to the Mamey region, where we have lunch and then begin the search for the sacred place of the Tayronas (ancient inhabitants of The lost City). At the end of the afternoon we arrive at Camp 1, in its surroundings we will find rivers, natural pools, waterfalls for moments of relaxation, then we will have dinner and there will be accommodations prepared in hammocks to rest and spend the night.

Parque Nacional Natural Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta
The day begins and we have breakfast early, to then start walking through the Buritaca river valley, there we will find numerous houses that make up a village of indigenous Kogui called Mutanshi. Our tour of the day is approximately 7 hours, passing through the jungle of the Sierra Nevada and meeting face to face with the natural diversity, until finally arriving directly at Camp 3 where we eat, rest and spend the night.

Ciudad Perdida
Very early we have breakfast, to begin the ascent to our destination, we begin by climbing 1,200 steps, a path built by the Tayronas themselves, at the end we will find the long-awaited Lost City, once there the guide will show us and give us information about the magical full place of relics and ancestral stories, we will spend the morning enjoying the landscapes of the destination, having enough time to rest and take pictures, finally we will have lunch and continue the same way back to reach Camp 2 where we have dinner and spend the night.

The last day of the adventure begins with breakfast to continue the way back to the point where it all began, the way we will find rivers and waterfalls to refresh ourselves, until finally reaching the Mamey where we will have lunch and the truck will wait for us to return to the city of Santa Marta where we will arrive around 5:00 pm having fully enjoyed an enriching new experience in the magical Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

5.00Very impressed with their organisation. Everything went smoothly and seamlessly, from pick-up at our hotel to drop off. Great communication from the agency who answered all our questions. Now for the trekking itself, be prepared to get wet and muddy. It was very humid so nothing was drying overnight. Bring sturdy hiking shoes because you’ll be coming down very slippery and muddy roads. There are quite some climbing but there were different fitness levels in our group of 15 and everyone managed without injury. It’s definitely not a “comfortable” or leisurely hike but despite all the hardships, we had an absolute blast. Our 3 guides Dennis, Pilar (translator) and Santiago along with our cook “Pollo” were incredible people. You can feel their love for their job. Their contagious energy and enthusiasm were there every single morning to motivate us. And last but not least, I was also really pleased with the food. I didn’t know what to expect but everything was prepared freshly, full of flavour, and good portions. I didn’t feel the need to buy any extra snacks during this 4 day trek. Overall I am super pleased with this 4 day trek with Expotur. This trek is not only about the destination but also about the journey. If you can afford it I’d say it’s absolutely worth the money.

5.00A challenge that is rewarded with the acquaintance of the extremely sympathetic guides Diego and Luis & Translator Danilo and our wonderful chef Samir, who spoiled us with his dishes and strengthened us for the route! 5.00Amazing trip and exceeded my expectations. The guide and translators were not only helpful and kind but also very fun and knowledgable. The food and the beds were both amazing too. Not what I expected when deep in the jungle.

5.00An amazing experience!! We went to visit the Ciudad Perdida with my companion and were accompanied by superb guides Deniss and Santiago of the translator Pilar and the cook Pollo. What to say, everything was perfect they answer your questions with a great knowledge of their subject, beautiful landscapes, top organization!

5.00We had a fantastic hike! It was not an easy one because of the lesser weather (rain and therefore mud) but it was a super experience with a nice group! Sleeping accommodations were better than I expected! Bunk beds which were clean, shop for beers and possibly basic necessities and WiFi for those who also need it. The tour guides did a great job with fun, jokes and info about the area and history. Very impressive! We had Dennis & Santiago as tour guide, Pilar as interpreter and Pollo who provided us with a super breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner every day! Definitely to recommend doing this! You're not going to regret it!

Numerous and rich information about indigenous traditions and the history of this region of Sierra Nevada. The campsites are comfortable and food and snacks abundant.
