Shinsekai
Time permitting, we’ll take a short stroll around Shinsekai—an often-overlooked area packed with hidden gems, fun facts, and sights to discover.
Tsutenkaku
Walk past Tsutenkaku, the famous landmark tower that is the focal point of the area and see where kushikatsu all began. Walk through the streets that over a century ago, were designed to bring a western feeling to Osaka.

5.00We had an amazing experience with Hungry Osaka Street Food Tours, and it was absolutely worth it! Make sure to come hungry — you’ll get to taste so many different kinds of delicious local food. Every single dish we tried was fantastic, and of course, the drinks were just as good! One of the best parts of the tour was that we visited small local spots that we never would have gone into on our own. Some of the places were tucked away or looked so local that we might have hesitated — but they ended up serving some of the best food we had in Osaka. It felt like getting true insider access to Osaka’s food scene. Our guide, Tim, was excellent. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and shared so much interesting background about the food and the neighborhood. Even though he’s an expat, he genuinely felt like a local with incredible insider information. He also gave us the option to try some extra exciting foods that weren’t included on the tour, which made the experience even more fun and memorable. Overall, this was a highlight of our time in Osaka, and we highly recommend it to anyone who loves great food and wants an authentic, local experience.

5.00I had such a fantastic experience on this food tour and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Everything was incredibly well organised from start to finish, which made the whole experience relaxed and enjoyable. What really stood out was the carefully selected, family-run restaurants we visited. Each stop felt authentic and special, offering a true taste of the local culture rather than tourist-focused spots. The selection of food venues was excellent — a great variety of flavours, dishes, and atmospheres that gave us a real feel for the area’s culinary scene. Our guide, Anna, was absolutely excellent. She was extremely knowledgeable, not only about the food but also about the history of the area. I loved how she blended stories about the neighbourhood’s past with insights into the local cuisine — it made the tour feel immersive and meaningful, not just about eating (though the food was amazing!). Deffo recommend this tour for anyone looking to explore Osaka.

Great Food Tour for Solo Travellers

5.00This is a great food tour! I was flying solo for this trip but that didn’t matter. Tim the guide was very welcoming and made sure everybody was comfortable, enjoying the food and that drinks were flowing. He is also incredibly knowledgable on Japanese history, culture and cuisine and fielded questions diligently. We tried 15 different dishes including labourer’s beef stew, octopus balls and chicken karagge. The tour lasted for about 3 hours and we had reservations in all the spots we went to, so there was no waiting in the cold! The group was only 10 people so pretty small and everybody was full by the end of the tour. I would thoroughly recommend this tour to anybody visiting Osaka and also Tim for his guiding proficiency and thorough expertise!

I don’t think I’ve laughed so much on any other food tour. Food, drinks and one of the best tour guides made Osaka memorable. Thank you Anna.

5.00Anna was a fantastic host! We ended up in her group by accident and I’m very glad. She has a great energy that’s catching, and created a real vibe for the experience. She shared interesting and knowledgeable info, while keeping things light and fun. The places we visited had amazing food and drinks, were varied and delicious. I honestly can’t recommend her and the tour enough ⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐
