Hurulu Eco Park was designated as a bio sphere reserve in 1977 and it’s a very important habitat to Sri Lankan or Asian elephant (Elephas maximus maximus ). The Sri Lankan elephant is known for its migratory behavior and the herd of elephants migrate from one dry zone forests around the area. These herd of elephants migrate from Kaudulla, Minneriya and Somawathiya forests time to time.

Very pleasant experience. Nadeesha picked us up from the hotel at 6.30am and we visited Hurulu Eco Park. We could observe beautiful groups of elephants and rejoice in professional explanations. Very good! Thanks for this morning together.

We really enjoyed the experience! Especially our kids who were with us — they had an amazing time and learned a lot from the driver’s explanations. They truly made the most of it. At the end, the driver kindly took us to buy some food and fruit and even invited us for coffee, generously giving us his time. Thank you so much to you and your wonderful office for creating such beautiful and unforgettable moments for us today. We will definitely come back to Sri Lanka again.

Great tour! The guide was very nice and we saw many elephants and even a baby one. The park is beautiful. The organisation and communication were very smooth.

We did an evening tour to Hurulu Eco Park with a pick up from our hotel in Dambulla. We booked short notice the same morning. Via WhatsApp we first asked if we could do the tour because we were concerned about the rain. We were lucky, the rain stopped for the evening tour and we had the jeep and our wonderful driver and guide Nadeesha all to ourselves. Maybe it's not the cheapest option (112 US$ for both, excluding tips but everything else included) but it was easy to organise, 100% convenient and 100% a beautiful experience - we saw may elephants, from solo males to groups of up to 10 females with young ones and even a baby. Nadeesha was very careful not to bother the elephants too much while still ensuring the best views for us. Thank you for this beautiful experience!
