Amazing route that starts in the mountains of Cuzco and lead us towards the archaeological site of Huchuycosco, finishing in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will drive to a little mountain community in between Cusco and the Sacred Valley. We will start our hike ascending approximately 1.5 km until we reach the highest point of the day, were we will get amazing views of the cordillera Vilcanota and the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The trail will then take us along creeks and agricultural terraces, facing the Vilcanota river and the Urubamba mountain range until we arrive to Pukamarca. In this ¨Red Village¨, we will meet the Inca Trail hidden by a narrow and biodiverse gully, with water channels, ancient stairs and bridges, as well as other archaeological remains in between a breathtaking nature. We will arrive to Huchuycosco, an important tambo (strategic military and religious site) in the heights of the Sacred Valley. History tells that this was the refugee of the Inca Wiracocha, defeated by the Chancas, who invaded the city of Cusco, until his son Pachacutec beat them and recovered Cusco for the Incas.

We embarked on the excursion to Huchuycosco and although the effort was considerable, it was completely worth it! The ruin itself has incredible potential, and reaching the top, at 4,400 meters, made us feel like we were in heaven. The view of Cusco from there is simply breathtaking. A magical and recommended experience for those seeking a unique adventure.

There’s not enough space here to properly give this praise. This experience was top notch! So gorgeous! La Base Lamay is an AMAZING tour organizer that can organize your whole vacation! We took them up on many of their adventures, but the 7mile hike at mile marker 104 was the highlight! Franco and Yasmin are amazing to help organize everything!!! Your stays, your rides, your adventures, anything to make you comfortable! We had Oliver for the majority of our rides, he made us feel safe during all the chaos of the streets, construction and traffic! Selinda, our amazing tour guide made sure we were always comfortable and enjoying our experience. Her wealth of knowledge was astounding! She could answer any question about the history, geography and local insight! When our whole trip got sick one at a time, she had a level of care that was familial and amazing! She rocked it! We were LUCKY to have her for all four of our tours! She is HIGHLY recommended from us!!! Take advantage of this off the beaten path and unique experience! Lamay is amazing and yet to be discovered! So gorgeous! A HUGE thanks to La Base Lamay and crew!
