Ishigaki Yaima Village
Yaima Village is a captivating historical park that brings the traditional culture and lifestyle of the Yaeyama Islands to life. Step inside and it feels as if you’ve time-traveled into Ishigaki’s past—wandering through beautifully preserved old-style houses with iconic red-tiled roofs and intricate Okinawan architecture. Along the way, you’ll encounter playful squirrel monkeys, majestic water buffalo, and even the rare crested serpent eagle. This is a place where history, nature, and everyday island life intertwine, offering not just sights to see but moments to feel deeply connected to Ishigaki’s heart.
Cape Oganzaki
Oganzaki is one of Ishigaki’s most breathtaking viewpoints, where brilliant blue seas, open skies, lush mountains, and a striking white lighthouse come together in perfect harmony. Steeped in local legend, this dramatic cape offers sweeping views that seem to dissolve the invisible boundaries of everyday life. Its rugged beauty captures the island’s essence—vivid colors, dramatic coastlines, and the meeting point of land, sea, and sky. Unlike many remote viewpoints, Oganzaki is comfortably accessible, making it easy to immerse yourself in this raw natural spectacle. Standing here, you may feel your senses sharpen, your worries fade, and your spirit reconnect with the sheer power and beauty of the Earth.

I had the most fun filled day. Sander was great tour guide. The tour was well organized and also great introductory video while you are in the van. Some great beaches and cliff with lighthouse view were amazing. I even spent time with squirrel monkeys in Yaima village. They were so adorable!!!!One even climbed up on my shoulder. There is also Shisa art, whimsical pottery statues which was incredible. It’s free but would be nice to leave donation please. Sander looked after me very well. He is very friendly and funny. His van was very comfortable and super clean (I felt bad I filled his van with sands, Gomen Nasai). He had heaps of drinks and snacks packed in his van. Although it was October, the heat in Ishigaki was next level and I was sweating like a pig. There was a very pretty hidden waterfall(secluded and no crowd) which helped me cool off. He also got towels for you. I thought it was very thoughtful. There was one restaurant with rubber chicken hanging, one that makes noise when you squeeze, I still don’t know if it was there to get their attention but we were laughing our arses off. All in all, this tour is the best to view Ishigaki especially if you’re only there for couple of days.

This tour was fantastic. First of all, Sander the tour guide, had a wonderful van with everything we would need for the day, including water, snacks, drinks, sunscreen, bug spray, personal usb fans, and towels to dry off. He was very personable and had a large monitor showing all the places we were going to visit. And to top it off, he brought us to a little soba restaurant with delicious food ( all part of the tour). All in all this tour was excellent and full of great information. We even got to get close to the small monkeys, where they are very friendly. We went on a glass bottom boat, and saw some coral reef where they harvest black pearls. Ishigaki is a beautiful island, very reminiscent of Hawaii, with a laid back feel. This was a great way to be introduced to this lovely paradise! Thank you Sander and may you continue to have great success with your island tour !

We got to see breathtaking views—from the turquoise waters and white sandy beaches to lush mangroves and scenic lookout points. The pace was just right, with plenty of time to take photos, enjoy the scenery, and ask questions. What really stood out was how much care was taken to make sure everyone felt comfortable. I highly recommend Sander. He’s very warm and knowledgeable. The lunch was amazing!
