Ready for the experience of a lifetime? Come on our Kayak Turtle Tour. Tours operate daily from the south end of Palm Cove and paddle out to Double Island from there. Once we are at Double Island, it's an incredible experience. There are mangroves to explore, coral reefs to paddle over and even a cave to explore if the conditions are right. More often than not, the water is crystal clear. There is an abundance of small rays and turtles swimming through the water, and it's even possible to see dolphins, dugongs or whales on the tour, but you have to be very lucky. Kayaks, life jackets, juice, water and fruit is provided.

Departing from Palm Cove, we paddle our way over to the coral reefs that fringe Double Island and Haycock Island (Scouts Hat). The first stop is our turtle spot. This is the place where the green turtle and the hawksbill turtle can be seen basking in the ocean. More often than not we have numerous turtle sightings. This is an exciting part of the trip for all of our customers. From here on, we either travel to the north side of the island or we move in to the south side and explore the mangroves, depending on what the tides are doing and the wind direction. Its not uncommon to see many rays and shovel nosed sharks playing and feeding in the shallows along the tidal part of the beach. If we venture to the north side of the island and with a low tide, we will check out the lime stone cave. When the tide is right, we go right inside the cave. Here we find small stalactites hanging from the roof of the cave. Next stop is the beach for a swim and relax. Snorkeling equipment will be provided, so if anyone feels like a snorkel, you are more than welcome to give it a go. After all this, its time to head home. If the northerly wind kicks in, we head back to Palm Cove.

Noel the guide was excellent, she told us a lot about the reef, the plants and the animals. We paddled round Double Island, saw a few turtles, and a little octopus while we were exploring the island. It was a great experience

We did the Sunrise kayak tour around Double Island! What an incredible experience to enter the water in the dark and enjoy the first light and sunrise on a calm ocean! Such a fantastic tour right here in Palm Cove! Luke is super professional and knowledgeable, always making sure to take enough time, so we didn't feel rushed. I highly recommend booking through them! What a way to spend a morning! We even spotted green sea turtles around the edge of the reef and a stingray in the shallows at Double Island. The weather was stunning, and it was a real highlight to see Double Island from this perspective!

This kayak tour is definitely one of our top experience in Palm Cove to do. Whilst we are not morning people we got up for the sunrise tour and it was worth it! I paddled solo to double island and back with teenage daughter, both journeys were manageable and enjoyable. We visited a cave and went on sand banks to see turtles. Highly recommend!

Incredible experience. Our guide was super friendly and knowledgeable. We had a terrific time and saw some turtles, which topped it all off. The kayak is not too strenuous, and our guide set a friendly pace. I took my dad, who is in his 70s, in a tandem kayak and we had a great time.

My family did the sunrise tour to Double Island. My husband and I used double kayaks with our kids (9 and 12yo) and had no trouble. Our guides Luke and Noelle were so knowledgeable and friendly. They took their time to ensure that we got every opportunity to catch the wildlife at various areas of the reef. My highlight was hopping off the kayak's and exploring Double Island's shoreline. If you are very sensitive to sea sickness I'd recommend taking some travel tablets before you go.

So my son and I had tried to take this tour about 3 years ago, but the weather had not been good on the day we booked. the team apologised and cheerfully re-arranged our tour to go through the Daintree rainforest down the river, which was really enjoyable. This time, once again the weather was bad, and that offer was on the table but luckily we had some wiggle room and could wait until the last day of our trip when the weather was better. Luke communicated clearly and was very friendly throughout. On the day our other guide was Noel, who was very knowledgeable also. It was beautiful, the islands and the sea are lovely. There were even some turtles but (as with unpredictable wild creatures) you don't always get close enough to take a pic. We saw quite a number poke their heads out of the water but they do so very briefly and we weren't able to get pictures. Wear reef shoes on the trip. I opted not to bring mine but I wish I had. walking on those islands or on the sand bar kills the feet. I wore sandals but the shells get in between sandal and foot and that hurts. The kayak back was actually quite hard work to be honest, the trip had been planned well and out return course plotted but the wind picked up more than I think Luke had expected (he definitely tried not to make us have to exert ourselves) but I was pretty much done by the time we struggled ashore (I'm a 50 year old guy who is too heavy and not real fit, so judge your own ability), but I am sure if my son had also been struggling Luke and Noel would have assisted. I'm confident you will very much enjoy this tour. I know we did. Just don't bank on getting up close and personal with wild turtles. They's wild.
