Guests who hunger to learn about Khmer cuisine can enroll in our half or full-day cooking class. Start the morning by exploring a local market where you will experience the hustle and bustle and absorb the flavor of a typical Cambodian market. You will have time to walk around, take pictures and observe vendors selling their wares. You will learn about local fruits, vegetables, and herbs and procure the freshest ingredients you need for the day's lesson.
Returning to our kitchen, our experienced chef will guide you through tried-and-true Khmer cooking techniques. Unlock ancient secrets of Khmer cooking through this authentic culinary experience. After the demonstration and with our chef's assistance, you will discover new tastes and textures as you learn to prepare traditional dishes, which will be enjoyed for lunch. The recipes are yours to keep so you can recreate the Cambodian culinary experience in the comfort of your own home and impress your friends and family.

*** Half Day Course (AM or PM) 09:00am / 03:00pm: Guest will meet at Banana Cooking Class and proceeding by Tuk Tuk to the local market where guest will be told and shown of Cambodian fruits, vegetables and spices. 10:00am / 4:00pm: Time to take a tuk-tuk ride back to Banana Cooking Class. 10:15am / 4:15pm: After arrival, guest will get a refreshing drink and cold towel and recipe. 10:30am / 4:30pm: Theory Class. Here our chef will present a cookery demonstration of the dishes that you are going to prepare 11:00am / 05:00pm: Time to put your hands on the cooking utensils. Each student has his/her own cooking station and wok. Assisted by our chef, you will learn and experience the culinary technique of Cambodian cuisine. 12:00pm / 6:00PM: Lunch / Dinner. Now you can taste and enjoy your own culinary creation. Certificate is given and photo cession. End of class!

5.00Fun and inspiring. Our instructor showed us new spices, vegetables and the way to cook. She led us through the local market, choosing fresh groceries by shopping list. Then we cooked a three-course dinner together with many happy laughs and encouragements. We ate together the cooked dinner and finally got a Certificate.

5.00My husband and I did chef Sao Sophens 1/2 day cooking class with chef Sao Sophen and 4 other travelers. the chef was engaging and warm and took us on a trip to the market for ingredients and then we came back and we prepared 3 delicious dishes following her guidance . the cooking school is well equipped and in a pretty space. we each prepared our own course and ate together at the end. This was a lot of fun and we would recommend this as a great activity in phnom penh.
Very good experience and quality/price ratio very good! I recommend Sophen as a teacher!!!

5.00Great time with Sophen who was a great teacher. She explains well and despite my approximate English, I understood everything. I asked for a "Lok Lak beef" which was accepted without problems I was alone for class. The time at the market was nice and the cooking time was perfect, accurate and I was able to ask any additional questions I wanted. The course ends with the tasting of the dishes and it is very good too.

5.00It was one of the best experience I have ever had !! We luckily had a class with just me and my friend so it was like a private cooking class !!! Our chef Sao Sophen was amazing so kind and helpful, we learned from the best !!!

5.00Great experience! The other people coming for the tour cancelled so we got a private class for the two of us. Price was really good and we were able to visit the market and buy the ingredients with the chef before learning to cook them. The chef and other staff were lovely and explained everything really well! Perfect amount of time for the class and we learned a lot 😁

5.00Had a lovely morning learning how to make three Khmer dishes. Chef Sao Sophen was an excellent teacher. Every thing was well organised. Enjoy the trip to the market and seeing all the stalls and Chef Sao Sophen was on hand to identify anything we hadn’t seen before. Highly recommend this activity.

She was incredibly good at explaining the ingredients, which parts work best for different dishes, and she guided me through the entire cooking process. Thanks to her, I made some of the best food I’ve tasted on my whole trip. A huge recommendation — it’s truly an experience you shouldn’t miss!
