We invite you to visit the Old (Upper) town tour, where Kyiv originates from. If this is your first time in the capital, then this excursion is for you! During the walk, you will learn about foundation of the city, about the princes and shrines of Kyiv; see the Golden Gate, St. Sophia and St. Michael’s Cathedrals, and Dytynets; as well as walk along St. Andrew’s Descent – another Montmartre in Kyiv. Additionally, you can visit the historical museum, one-street museum or Bulgakov Museum.

Golden Gate
The Golden Gate is a symbol of Kiev, the oldest defence structure of Kievan Rus that survived until now. It is the main gate of ancient Kiev. It was built by the decree of Yaroslav the Wise in 1037. The height of the defensive fortifications of the city of Yaroslav with fences reached a total of 16 m, a width is 20 m, and at the bottom with slopes – up to 27 m.
Saint Sophia Cathedral
The St. Sophia’s Cathedral is the greatest architectural structure, built by Yaroslav the Wise the Grand Prince in 1037. It preserved until now not only the richness of ancient architecture, but also the picturesque decoration of the 11th century, mainly mosaics and frescoes. Religious and state ideas of that time were embodied in the artistic image of Sophia of Kiev. The ensemble of mosaics is decorated with the main altar of the St. Sofia’s Temple. St. Sophia Cathedral is included in the UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

5.00It's all very cheerful, no boring. Jana told me without interruption. With humor, in a free manner. Good choice of places, I think. It was a little stressful not having air conditioning on this hot day) good balance of walking and automobile. It feels like a person knows an object and loves it!

5.00Visited a sightseeing individual tour of Kiev with Mikhail. It went more than fine. Mikhail was so passionate about sharing knowledge and information with us, you can see that a man is living it. A very nice impression of himself and the city. Also thanks to driver Gennady for the comfortable ride and, of course, Igor for quickly organizing all this.
