Located 20min from Liberia, Guanacaste near Rincon de la Vieja Volcano. We will walk in the forest next to the Blanco river that comes from the volcano, go around incredible rock formations, cross streams of water, go up small ladders until at the very end we will pull ourselves with a rope inside the water to get into a big cave to see La Leona Waterfall

La Leona Waterfall is located in the small town of Curubandé, 20 minutes from Liberia in the province of Guanacaste. La Leona is a unique deep blue waterfall rooted between two canyons. It’s one of the few, if not the only, one in Costa Rica with this characteristic. Its water comes from the “white river” or “Rio Blanco” that finds its source in the skirts of the Volcano Rincon de la Vieja. The color of the water is just amazing, between blue and turquoise, which is explained by the presence of sulfur. It’s definitely a must in this area! 5.00My boys (9 and 11), my husband and I had an amazing tour with Leo and Kendall. It was a stunning hike to see a spectacular waterfall full of adventure and fun. We felt very safe throughout and had an amazing Costa Rican lunch after. Leo and Kendall were so helpful and took great photos for us. I would definitely recommend!

5.00Hike was great. We had Cholo as our guide just for me and my gf. He was amazing, super funny and kept us entertained the entire time. Constantly was showing us different plants and trees and other wildlife. We saw bats and monkeys. Overall hike was not difficult. We're both relatively in shape but conditions were good. We just wore sneakers, they get soaked almost immediately on the hike but it wasn't uncomfortable to walk in. You could also rent water shoes too for $10 at the place. We swam at the waterfall and slid down some natural water slides. Definitely recommend and be sure to request Cholo if you get a choice for a guide!

5.00There is no better tour company in Costa Rica than Fabriscio and his entire crew. They have the highest level of customer service and are the best equipped tour company for anyone visiting La Leona Waterfall. We had grandparents, parents and kids in our private group and they took the best care of our entire family. One of our family members had an accident on the hike, tripping, and suffering a head injury. We are from Colorado and hike all the time and know freak accidents can happen to anyone at anytime. Fabriscio and his team were prepared and ready to support us. From our tour guide having a first-aid kit and helping dress to wound, to other guides coming to help her safely hike out, to Fabricio himself leading us to a nearby hospital to ensure proper medical evaluation. Even with the accident the hike remained a highlight of our trip. They have the best guides, routes, and made sure our family member was completely ok. I would only recommend this company to anyone who wants to see the breath-taking La Leona!

5.00We celebrated my 50th with this tour and it was the best! Hiking, getting into the water, and seeing the falls were a blast. Our guide, Jeremy, was great and a lot of fun. They took fantastic pictures and videos for us too. Highly recommend!

5.00We had the best experience with Javi & Freddie. We are more athletic and Javi gave us a more challenging hike with breathtaking views. We were able to hike, swim, wade, climb and explore waterfalls.

5.00This is a must do. One of the best experiences we’ve had as a family. Company was on time and professional. You will not believe the hike and the waterfall. It’s absolutely magical. Our Guide Andrey was amazing. He balanced conversation with quiet serenity perfectly. I’d say you have to be in decent physical shape to get yourself into the cave. A must do when you are in Costa Rica. Private tour was even better. Going to be a whole day from Tamarindo.
10/10 adventure, must do!

5.00The tour was excellent. I’m a timid person when it comes to outdoor adventures, if I can do it and ENJOY it, anyone can. There is definitely a fitness element to it, lots of unsturdy terrain, ladders and ropes, etc. we did not see any animals however the nature of it all, 10/10. Johnathan our guide was really great and knowledgeable, enjoyed our time with him. What to wear and what to bring: my husband wore sneakers and wish he had water shoes. I purchased a pair of water shoes outside at a gift shop (35$ USD) sold at the place for 20$ USD. Much easier to navigate water shoes, soles were sturdy on the walk zero issues or lack of comfort. Light cotton or athletic clothes preferred. I wore workout shorts and a tshirt same for husband and felt good. I did see some in bathing suits and shorts. The ride to the falls is in a truck that’s wildly bumpy just an FYI and you stand in the trunk, but you can sit in the back seat. Backseat felt safer haha. Excellent overall adventure!
