Fannette Island

Fannette is the only island to be found in all of Lake Tahoe. It is located in beautiful Emerald Bay on the west shore of the lake. A sparsely timbered, brush covered upthrust of granite that rises 150 feet above the water, Fannette Island was not always known by that name. During the past 100 years it has been known as Coquette, Fannette, Baranoff, Dead Man's, Hermit's, and Emerald Isle. Fannette was the name that finally stuck.

Excellent view of Lake Tahoe from the water and a very relaxing cruise. During the week is not crowded making this adventure easy and fun and the crew is very friendly 😊

This cruise was amazing! The sites were amazing, the staff of board the MS. Dixie two was fantastic. This is something we would certainly do again. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

I did this in January, the ship was not full of people, only adults, there’s a bar and you can also order some food. We had a great experience. I would do it again in the summer months.

The transportation vehicle that was to pick us up left before the time it was to pick us up. Do not deal with these people!!!

Our extended family went on this cruise in January 2026. It's very well organised, relaxed and informative experience where you get to learn a lot about the lake and the area while enjoying a great boat. The surrounding views are simply outstanding, the lake and the mountain peaks are breathtaking. Very family friendly too - we had two teenagers and a 8-month old baby, no issues at all.

The cost did not match the experience. It was decent but not what was expected. The dinner part was okay, food average. After dinner , we were moving upstairs for live music and dancing. There was no where near enough room upstairs to accommodate the people that were there. The band had issues so they were late starting. Even then, you could not hear them and they only played for around thirty minutes before we docked.

The Dixie itself is beautiful and the views are amazing. We had a wonderful time and the atmosphere was family friendly. Be careful if you are traveling with kids. I was charged $104 for a child on Viator, but on site kids are only $55 at the window. We were never picked up as advertised and took an Uber instead. I never heard back from the operator when I tried to reach out. In sum, go for it as it’s a beautiful experience but just take an Uber and pay on-site or make the reservation through the zephyrcove.com.

Views were great! Fun to be on the lake. We had seen emerald bay from the road. The tour gave a completely different perspective and we got very close to the mansion and the island. Enjoyed very much!

The boat ride is very nice, staff is very kind and pleasant. When i went it was snowing and the views of the lake were a bit limited, but what we did see was stunning, especially in the emerald cove.
