The Matanuska Glacier is one of Alaska's premiere destinations. At 27 miles long and 4 miles wide it is Alaska's largest glacier accessible by road. It also is boasts one of the most accessible areas to walk on of any glacier in Alaska. Marvel at ice that formed thousands of years ago high in the Chugach Mountains.
Matanuska Glacier
Your day will start with a magnificent scenic drive along the Glenn Highway with stunning mountain vistas and plenty of time for photo stops. Next we will drive to the toe of the glacier to dawn our ice cleats and begin exploring the glacier by foot. Each day is unique due to the dynamic nature of the glacier. We generally spend two hours and walk three miles on the ice. After exploring the glacier we will have lunch at a local eatery with stunning views of the glacier and surrounding scenery. Each tour will be customized to suit your groups interest. This is a once in a lifetime bucket list opportunity to explore glacial ice!

5.00Wonderful experience! Would definitely book this trip again! We saw beautiful glaciers, tool lots of pictures and rode a sleigh halfway to the glaciers. Unforgettable experience.

5.00We were fortunate to have great weather. The guides got us to the destination ahead of other groups, allowing us to experience the area without interruption. The guides' geographical knowledge was key to our wonderful experience. We spent 2 plus hours on the glacier walking an easy 2.65 miles.

5.00So glad I took this tour to hike Mantanuska Glacier with knowledgeable and well trained professionals. They kept our group safe while still providing for breathtaking panoramic and close up views of the glacier. Guides kept the hiking pace comfortable with plenty of time for photographs and glacier discussion. The meal after the hike was delicious and offered a choice of Alaska Delicacies. Fabulous experience.

5.00My wife and I joined the Matanuska Glacier Winter Tour, and it was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip to Alaska. After all, how many people can say they've actually hiked on a glacier? Our guide, Victoria, was excellent-friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable. She picked us up at our hotel right on time and, during the two-hour drive, patiently answered all of our questions about glaciers, wildlife, and Alaska. She also made sure we felt safe and comfortable during the hike. Walking on the glacier was an incredible experience. Lunch, water, and snacks were provided, and everything was very well organized. Overall, it was an amazing experience, and we highly recommend this tour.

5.00Great experience with knowledgeable tour guides, Victoria and Adam. I got the halibut sandwich for lunch, it was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Onion rings were ok.
