A scenic 100-mile drive through the hills of Belize leads to a visit to El Castillo, one of the largest Maya temples in Belize. Climb to the top and enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Belize and Guatemala. On the way back, stop for lunch and then enjoy cave tubing through limestone archways in centuries-old caves.

Departing at 7am from Placencia, this adventure starts with A scenic 100-mile drive through the hills of Belize that leads to Xunantunich Mayan Ruin and a special tour of this magnificent site. The centre of Xunantunich sits on an artificially leveled limestone ridge that stands almost 183 meters above sea level one of the largest Maya temples in Belize. Climb to the top and enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Belize and Guatemala. On the way back, stop to enjoy a great Belizean prepared lunch. Then it's off to the cave tubing adventure! This is a 7 mile “River of Caves” tube float through limestone archways in centuries-old caves. This adventure is exciting, fun and definitely one of Belize's most popular.

Chris is an exceptional tour guide. He took extra time to explain all of the history of Mayan ruins, as well as point out numerous interesting facts about plants/surrounding habitat. Highly professional and courteous, would recommend to anyone!

Four of us had a blast with Pablo. He was so much fun from the moment he picked us up and made a long day fly by. The Mayan site was stunning and the history was fascinating to learn and Pablo had a real passion for teaching us about it. The cave tubing is so fun and surreal. The water is pristine and so refreshing. I would highly recommend this tour for adults and families.

The service picked us up directly from our condo, had clear instructions on what to bring and what to expect, and had reminders and contingencies covered if there was anything we were lacking. Our guide, driver, coordinator and security was Pablo, the best representative that a company could offer. From the beginning, he was punctual, and professional, amd at the same time warm and welcoming. He was a wealth of knowledge in all things Mayan and Belize. He kept the energy going from 6am till 5pm when he dropped us back off. The tour of the archeological site was breathtaking. We learned so much and actually got to climb some of the ancient structures. Absolutely amazing. The cave tubing experience was unreal in a completely different way. Being able to float though caves carved by centuries of water flow really is a surreal feeling. The trek to the river was about a 30 min walk over gravel and through some river crossings, so proper water/hiking sandals will save some frustrations. And prepare for a squadron of mosquitoes. You have been warned. Once you hit the caves, all of that dissolves into the past. It truly is a remarkable experience.
10/10 Would go again!

The trip was an amazing and unforgettable experience! Our Tour guide Pablo was very knowledgeable with his Mayan culture and gave us so much information and laughs along the way. We would love to come back and try some of the other excursions they have to offer! I would recommend Captain Jak’s to anyone, ask for Pablo and he’ll take care of you.

We actually booked ATM cave tubing tour. Found out about an hour in because of rain, The cave was flooded. Our tour guide Christian was amazing. He then presented us with a couple of options. We choose Mayan Ruins at Xunantunich. Christian was amazing! When we got to the ruins , it was a bit rainy, but nothing too hard. Christian was a wealth of knowledge. He did a great job of not getting entangled with other tour groups. He explained everything in great detail. He took us all the way to the top and was not overly pushy to my wife who is scared of heights. After a quick stop for lunch, Christian took us to Cave tubing where it was not overly crowded because of the rain earlier again he was a wealth of knowledge, taking us all over inside the cave and showing us ancient artifacts This turned out to be an eight hour plus day. Christian was a great driver. He was able to pivot from what would have been an easier day at ATM cave. We were extremely happy with this tour.

My friend and I lucked out and had an awesome day with our tour guide Christien. He was very flexible, knowledgeable, fun, and friendly. He not only taught us about Belize history, he wanted to learn some Indigenous history in Canada as well. He was patient with our climb up the temple and made sure we were hydrated and doing good. Tubing was my favourite! He took his time taking us through the mile long cave. I recommend chris for this tour! The day sounds long but it actually goes by so fast. 6am-6pm, half of this is driving but you get to see alot of the country in one day and it is Beautiful!

Captain Jak’s is the way to go. We booked a couple tours with them and they were spot on in every aspect. We also rented a golf cart for the trip and they delivered with no issues! Thanks guys for the great time.

Pablo with Captain Jak's was the highlight of our weeklong stay in Placencia. You could not ask for a better tour guide to take you to the Mayan ruins and cave tubing. He took his time and gave us what felt like 10 years worth of classes/learning on the history of Belize and Mayan culture. When we return to Placencia, we will absolutely book again with Captain Jaks and we will request Pablo for every single tour. Truly a remarkable day.
