Discover the magic of the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve, one of Costa Rica’s most extraordinary natural destinations and a paradise for nature lovers. During this 2.5-hour guided nature walk, your local naturalist guide will help you discover wildlife and reveal the hidden details of the cloud forest. As you explore the trails, you may observe colorful birds, insects, frogs, and unique plants that make this ecosystem so special.
The experience takes place in small groups of up to 8 participants, creating a relaxed and personalized atmosphere that allows for better wildlife observation and a deeper connection with the Monteverde Cloud Forest.

Located near the entrance of the famous Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve, the Colibrí Gallery is a unique wildlife photography gallery and craft store surrounded by the lush cloud forest of Monteverde, Costa Rica. The area is well known for attracting several species of hummingbirds and other wildlife, making it a great place for nature observation and photography. The gallery features impressive wildlife photography by renowned British photographers Michael and Patricia Fogden, whose work has appeared in National Geographic and other international publications. Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve
Explore the world-famous Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve, one of the most biodiverse ecosystems in Costa Rica, located along the Sierra de Tilarán between Puntarenas and Alajuela. During this guided nature walk, you will explore lush cloud forest trails surrounded by towering trees covered in moss, orchids, bromeliads, and other unique epiphytes typical of this misty ecosystem. Accompanied by a knowledgeable local naturalist guide, guests will search for wildlife hidden in the forest canopy and understory. The reserve is home to a remarkable diversity of species, including hummingbirds, toucans, the iconic Resplendent Quetzal, frogs, butterflies, insects, and native plants. With the help of professional optical equipment and expert guidance, you will have a greater chance to observe wildlife while learning about the biodiversity and conservation importance of the Monteverde Cloud Forest. Please note that the entrance fee to the reserve is not included.

5.00Great tour in search of wildlife! Deyber is a fantastic guide who was very knowledgeable about the flora/fauna as well as the history of the area. We learned a bunch from him in such a short time. He went out of his way to get us some of the best looks at the amazing animals in the cloud forest. He even chased down a Quetzal on the move for us! Highly recommended!

5.00Juan Carlos is a dedicated guide! You can't control nature and which animals you'll come across but he does his best to make sure his group is able to see as much as possible. He's knowledgeable, patient and very passionate. Highly recommend his tour!

5.00Booking was easy with Viator just the day before. I then booked immediately the entry pass which you need to ensure both times match within 15 minutes of each other. We booked the 0730 guided tour and 0745 entry pass…no issues. Our guide was Roy and he was awesome! Highly recommend requesting him…very professional, easy to work with, and passionate about his job…true professional. Easily linked up with him and the car park, then met him at the entrance to the park via transportation the park provides with your entry ticket. We ended up seeing 4x Quetzals, with the last incredibly close. Roy was so excited to see these birds as much as we did and he’s been doing this for 20 years! He told us a ton of ecological knowledge, saw other birds and animals in the forest. This isn’t his job…it’s his calling and life. Overall, hands down request him and you won’t go wrong!

5.00Deyver was an excellent guide! He was incredibly knowledgeable about the flora and fauna. We learned a lot. We tried so hard to spot a quetzal, but they were just not making themselves visible. He did spot a hawk, a snake, a tarantulas, and several other bird species.

5.00Deyber Gonzalez was our guide. He was amazing at finding the animals and he gave us so much info about the cloud forest . I am so happy we hired a guide as he was able to point out and spot a quetzal which was the highlight of our tour.
For tours like this a guide is needed!

4.00The tour guide was nice, we saw some wild life and the Quetzal, which made this activity worth it. For the rest, the wild life was pretty normal and also it gets a bit uncomfortable with the amount of groups that are in the trail at the same time, you don’t really get to enjoy the nature with the noise and crowds. Also the price of the guide we consider it a bit expensive for only 1 hour of tour, but at the same time is needed since you need their experience and good binoculars, so it’s 50-50. If you want to be sneaky you could take your binoculars (only if they are really good) and be next to the crowds to help you spot the wild life.

5.00Beautiful way to start the day and get acquainted with the cloud forest. We enjoyed learning about the plants and saw many different species! Super happy to have seen bats, tarantula, toucan and even a monkey in the beginning! Shoutout to our wonderful guide (Deyber Gonzalez) who answered all of our questions and brought a passionate lens to our experience!

5.00This tour was absolutely the best experience of our entire trip. Compared to other similar tours, it offers excellent value for money. On the day of our tour, there were no other participants, so it was kindly upgraded to a private tour for just the two of us. Our tour guide, Deyber, was incredibly knowledgeable. He not only explained the local ecosystems, plants, and wildlife in great detail, but also helped us take beautiful photos along the way. In addition, he could mimic the calls of various birds and monkeys to help us spot them, which made the experience even more engaging and fun. We would 100% recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area!
