Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve

This is a fantastic opportunity to explore the unique cloud forest ecosystem, home to the Resplendent Quetzal, Emerald Toucanet, Two-toed Sloth, and more. Please note that entrance fees to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve are not included in the rate.If you’re coming by car, please remember to park in the official parking lot of the reserve where you’ll find the reception to pay for your tickets and meet your guide. This process may add 15 to 20 minutes to your schedule. We recommend meeting your guide about 20 minutes before the tour starts.

Juan Carlos was an incredible guide, and very informative about both the flora and the fauna in the area! He was able to spot so many animals from a distance and we could see them through his scope, we would have missed everything without him! The Cloud Forest is an incredible place, highly recommend!

Our guide, Fernando, was fabulous. He took extra time to explain and share the magic of the Cloud Forest. He helped everyone in the group view the sightings and take pictures for us too.

They do the “Heart of the Forest Trail” for which you also have to buy tickets on the official park website. Beautiful forest; the starting point is a bit crowded, but it dissipates as you move along the trail. Very nice and knowledgeable guide. Saw a Quetzal! Many different species of hummingbirds at the café of the same name at the end of the tour. If you’ve been to one of the ranger stations in Corcovado, this is not a must see, unless you want to bet on the Quetzal.

Guide did an excellent job spotting wildlife I would have otherwise missed (am particularly appreciative of seeing the resplendent quetzal!) and explaining some of the more distinctive aspects of the cloud forest.

We loved our hike in the Cloud Forest. Eduardo was our guide (we set up our guide through our VRBO - Campo Azul) and he was fantastic! We saw three quetzals at the end of our walk (2 males and 1 female). We also saw a lot of hummingbirds and orchids. Learning about the history of the area was great. Definitely book a guide for a better experience!
