  Highly recommend Justin! He was very responsible with all the logistics and meeting details. He has a deep passion for nature and shared his knowledge seamlessly in English and Spanish.   Having booked this very last minute - we missed up the meeting point but very quickly Justin was in touch to let us know. Raul did the tour and spent loads of time and energy explaining all the aspects of the forest / plants and animals. He wasn’t rushed at all. He then showed us the hummingbirds and recommended a walk to La ventana- great tour which we had to ourselves.

  Justin was an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and very accommodating guide who was very engaged and eager to share information about the flora and fauna of the cloud forest. He was wonderful even as we misunderstood where we were to meet up for the tour. As we stated to Viator, the ticket voucher should have had all details on its face since it was difficult to sort through all tour emails to unearth needed information at the time of the tour. Since we had lost time in meeting up, Justin invited us to join his next group so we could have the complete experience. We cannot say enough about his care and problem-solving on our behalf, in addition to his subject knowledge.

  We had a fantastic birdwatching experience with Justin Ramirez in Monteverde. He may be young, but he’s already an incredibly knowledgeable and experienced guide — fluent in both English and Spanish, with a deep understanding of the local ecosystem. What really stood out was how well-connected he is within the birding community. Thanks to real-time tips from fellow birders, we were able to spot many amazing species we might have otherwise missed — including the Resplendent Quetzal at Treetopia Park and a wide range of species in Curi-Cancha Reserve. Justin has a sharp eye for small birds, excellent knowledge of both flora and fauna, and is very easy to talk to. We asked him questions not only about birds and trees but also about Costa Rican history and its relationships with neighboring countries, and he answered everything with insight and thoughtfulness. He’s also very responsive via WhatsApp, always replying quickly and giving great suggestions. We saw an amazing variety of birds — quetzals, hummingbirds, Chlorophonias, and even some frogs! While we tried for a few elusive endemic species and didn’t see them all, the experience was still outstanding.   If you're even remotely interested in birds and nature, do yourself a favor and book a tour with Justin in Monteverde. I’ve done birding walks in a few different places, but Justin stands out as one of the best guides I’ve ever had. His passion for birds, deep knowledge of the local ecosystem, and ability to spot even the most elusive species made this a truly unforgettable experience. From the moment we met, Justin was warm, professional, and clearly excited to share his love of Costa Rican birds. He tailored the walk to our interests and experience level, and we appreciated how patient and engaging he was throughout the tour. We saw an incredible variety of birds, including some hard-to-find species like the Resplendent Quetzal and three-wattled bellbird—plus a lot more that we would have definitely missed without him. What really impressed me was how much context Justin gave about the birds’ behaviors, habitats, and conservation challenges. It wasn’t just a checklist—it was a rich learning experience that left us more connected to the forest. Highly recommend bringing binoculars and a camera, but even if you're a beginner, Justin makes it all accessible and exciting.   We are very pleased with booking Justin. So much so that we booked a night tour directly with him as well. Even when there was not many animals to see he told us a lot of interesting facts about the vegetation and forest. 10 out of 10, will book again!

  Justin is lovely. He gave us all kinds of explanations about the birds we were seeing and curiosities about the flora and fauna of the Monte Verde forest. We found the companionship among the guides who were indicating where they had seen any animals. The walk was short and worth it; in addition to what we learned and the amazing scenery, Justin didn’t rest until we saw a couple of male Quetzales! Thank you so much Justin!

  The tour was super interesting. The jungle is beautiful and Justin made it even more enjoyable. He is a very friendly and humble boy who gave us interesting information at all times and who strived to make the tour to our liking. He even offered to extend it a little longer because the quetzal was resisting us. Offering that paid off since in the last attempt and thanks to his hearing and knowledge we managed to see perfectly two male specimens. Un 10.

  Our guide Justin. It was a great guide explained everything about the forest and the animals we saw. It was a very close deal, you can tell it is a family business. Thanks to him we could see the famous Quetzal and hummingbirds.
