I had such a great time! After visiting Nara Park, I wanted to do something where I could actually talk with local people, and this activity was perfect. Mune-san, the host, was super kind and fun to talk to. I learned about onigiri and washoku, and even made three onigiri myself. They were a bit tricky, but I pulled it off.. and I was pretty proud of them! At the end, they served a delicious meal with the onigiri I made. It was really nice to eat together and chat with the hosts. I totally recommend this to anyone who wants more than just “sightseeing.” Whether you’re traveling solo, or with a partner or group, you’ll have a great time and make some really good memories.

I’ve joined several sushi-making workshops in Osaka and Kyoto, but somehow never tried the most humble classic — the onigiri. So I booked a session here out of curiosity. The experience begins with a brief introduction to onigiri basics, followed by the hands-on part. Shaping the rice with my own hands is surprisingly satisfying, and enjoying the onigiri as dinner feels even better. It’s an excellent activity for children as well. Unlike other cooking classes that require many tools, making onigiri is very intuitive — it’s all about the feel of the rice in your hands. The staff speak English, so communication is easy and stress-free. A simple, honest, and genuinely enjoyable workshop.
