As soon as we pass through the shopping arcade, we will visit Kofuku-ji temple where we can see the beautiful 5 stories pagoda. After taking some good photos, we will be heading to Todai-ji temple. The huge Great Buddha statue await you in the back. Our local guide will explain some histories and interesting facts about Japanese Buddhism and temples!
After seeing the Great Buddha statue, we will enjoy viewing Nara on the Nigetsu-do temple!
On the top of Todai-ji temple, there is Nigetsu-do temple where we can enjoy the great view of Nara. After that, we will visit some traditional souvenir shops and walk toward Kasuga shrine!

The itinerary for this tour includes some locations that are not accessible by a wheelchair or stroller.
All ages are welcome on this tour. Although we walk with a few short breaks, please let us know in advance if any group members have health concerns.
You do not need to cover the guide’s food and drinks. Please bring cash if you would like to purchase additional snacks or drinks.
We are unable to accommodate gluten-free requests for this tour.

Summer in Japan is very hot and humid, so we recommend that you bring water and wear a hat to prevent heat stroke.
For any dietary request, please request in advance (by the day before). We are unable to accept any request on the day of the tour.
Japan’s climate has become more extreme, with summer temperatures reaching up to 40°C (110°F) and winter lows dropping to -5°C (20°F). Please prepare accordingly for the tour.

Kofuku-ji Temple 5 Stories Pagoda
We will be the iconic Kofuku-ji Temple, renowned for its stunning five-story pagoda. This ornately carved pagoda was built by the Fujiwara clan in 730. Today it is an iconic historical landmark of Nara.
Todai-ji Temple
Explore Todaiji Temple Main Hall and Nandaimon. As you approach, you will be greeted by two imposing guardian statues called Kongorikishi. Beyond them is the Great Buddha, a sight that never ceases to fascinate visitors. During this tour, your local guide will share fascinating stories and interesting insights into Japanese Buddhism and the significance of historical temples!

5.00Great way to explore Nara on a day trip from Kyoto, with Shin as our guide. He was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and engaging. Notable moments included a visit to a traditional moss garden, finding some of the Nara deer in quieter areas of the park and an impromptu calligraphy experience. Our family of six had a great day out with Shin!

5.00Everything was perfect. First, a big thank you to Shin, our guidé who taught us many things about Nara and japanese culture altogether. We visited Nara and learned of all the riches the town has, not just the famous bowing deer. Shin even taught us how to pray correctly wether in front of a temple or in front of a shrine. Also, as someone who is a bit introverted, I really did appreciate the way Shin made us all participate during this tour, by taking photos of us or just by talking a bit with everyone along the tour. Long story short, it was an amazing day trip, Shin is an excellent guidé and a really good person, if you ever want to book this day trip, I recommend it 100%

5.00Our guide Shin provided a wonderful walking tour which included a delicious Japanese brunch in an authentic high quality restaurant. Shin was professional and friendly ensuring that we were fine throughout including food safety due to my allergy. We learnt so much about Japanese culture and food through various tastings throughout the market stalls. Tour is highly recommended to experience Japanese food and culture.

5.00I had the best time on this Nara half-day walking tour! Eri was incredibly kind, patient, and so knowledgeable about the history of the area. She made everything easy to understand and added so many interesting details. Plus, she took amazing photos throughout the tour — seriously some of the best pictures from my whole Japan trip. The deer were adorable and so fun to interact with. This tour was perfect from start to finish. Highly recommend Eri to anyone visiting Nara!

5.00Absolutely amazing tour guide! Had a wonderful experience and Hide was amazing and very informative. The fee was cheap and the tour went for 4 hours. We visited Nara and the atmosphere was incredible. It was just my family and I so it was a very intimate experience that made it the best for knowledge and any questions with the guide.
