The Ancient God of Wine Was Born on Naxos!
Your walk leads uphill to the medieval castle of Naxos, where breathtaking views await at its summit. As you walk through the winding alleys of the old town, step into an 800-year-old Venetian wine cellar and gallery. Here, savor three glasses of local wine paired with delicious Naxian cheese, while your guide introduces you to Dionysus, god of wine and revelry, and the ancient Greek symposiums that celebrated friendship and pleasure. During this intimate mini-symposium, view replicas of ancient Greek vases depicting Dionysian myths and feastings, brought to life through engaging storytelling. Conclude your tasting with a sip of rakomelo — raki infused with honey and cinnamon — the true nectar of the gods.
Back to the waterfront sunset walk to the famous ‘ Portara” the Great Gate of Apollo. Enjoy sunset while Helios the sun god paints the sky with the last translucent shades of pink and amber before he sets into the Blue Aegean.

Our guide Christof was outstanding! He was a terrific story teller, highly informative and very personable. I appreciate learning about the country’s, town and culture during our tours. The tour was well worth the money. We totally enjoyed it!

We had an exceptional afternoon with Christos (so sorry if we have it slightly wrong!). He was so engaging and full of interesting history and Greek mythology. The wine was incredible. Definitely medium-large glasses of white, rose and red followed by a surprisingly tasty raki! Thank you for a brilliant tour and taking us to such beautiful parts of Naxos!

We travelled to Naxos by ferry after spending time in Mykonos. We spent 5 nights here and were thrilled with our time. We did a day tour around the island and spent the remainder of our time wandering around the township or swimming. Naxos is incredibly safe really comes alive during the day and night. There are so many Tavernas and bars and restaurants. Some are fabulously situated on the waterfront, while others are gorgeous and tucked away down little alleys. It is more of a family island than Mykonos or Santorini. There is plenty to do with boat trips, buggies, bikes, quads or rental cars. It is a charming town and I wouldn't hesitate to go there.

I came with my 12-year-old son who was very interested in mythology and I’m very interested in wine. Our guide taught us so much about modern and Ancient Greek history and mythology and the wine-tasting in the castle felt more like we were in someone’s living room than a tourist stop. Definitely one of the highlights of our entire trip!

Iliana was the best tour guide! We really enjoyed the tour and learned lots about the history of Naxos. And got to see some parts of town we wouldn’t have otherwise. 10/10 would recommend going.

Amazing tour which I will highly recommend. The tour guide was knowledgeable of Naxos Mythology and we enjoyed the stories. We stopped at, at least three or four places for different kinds of wine and cheese and ended our tour at the temple of Apollo. The length of the tour is just enough.

Was a bit disappointed by this tour. It is very very similar to the Naxos food tour. Had the same exact stops. It was a bit on the boring side and I felt like I did not learn a whole lot about Greek Mythology. Our tour guide was lovely and that was the only redeeming part of the tour. I wouldn’t label this a wine tour because you got one small glass of wine in the beginning while standing in a cheese store and during the tour you just walk around for two hours with no wine. The end you get 2 small glasses of wine. I do not feel like this was worth the money and if I were to do it again I would skip this experience.

Great way to bounce around some of the key historical spots in Naxos while also learning about some great local spots! Very informative guide who blended Greek myths with Naxos history in a very entertaining way!

This was essentially a mythology tour—and unfortunately, a rather dull one. We didn’t receive any wine until the very end, and even then, it was just two very small samples. I’ve been on wine tours all over the world, and I’ve never encountered such tiny pours with no explanation about the wines themselves. This experience had the potential to be much more engaging and interactive, but instead, it felt like a dry PBS documentary. Also way to expensive for what we got.
