So, what's tickling your fancy today? looking for the road less traveled in Petra, are we? Fancy a sneak peek at what that hidden path looks like? An experience led by a local guide. This tour begins from the Petra visitors center. An experience led by a local guide. This tour begins from the Petra visitors center and includes a 20-minute car drive to the back entrance into Petra located in the vicinity of Al Bayda. From there we will begin walk & hike to the Monastery. With wild landscapes and panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, you will feel as if you have Petra all to yourself. Once we reach the Monastery there are many Nabatean caves, tombs, and carvings to explore surrounding the monument. If you climb off the ground level, the views are breath-taking and gives an opportunity to take beautiful photos in the iconic cave door opposite the Monastery.
After enjoying the Monastery and the surrounding, The tour will then take us down where we may have buffet lunch at the Basin restaurant or a bite somewhere else. Afterwards we will be seeing Qaser Albent and enjoy the views overlooking the colonnaded street and the great temple.

5.00The Back Door Petra – Easy Access route was an excellent way to experience Petra. The hike was manageable and very rewarding, with breathtaking views along the way and a much quieter entrance compared to the main gate. Reaching the Monastery from this route was truly unforgettable. Everything was well organized, and the experience felt authentic and peaceful. Highly recommended for those who want to enjoy Petra away from the crowds.

5.00We did the backdoor access tour in Nov as a family - with 10 year olds. I was a bit apprehensive initially as I had read it was a solid hike. Our kids regularly hike 4 miles of even terrain (this was about 7), but it turned out great, partly due to our guide. Jihad contacted me via whatsapp immediately after booking, answered all my questions patiently and provided excellent suggestions. He kept tabs during our stay and volunteered to help if we needed any. We started early in the morning to catch the 4x4 ride to the starting point. It costs 15JD, but definitely helps. The hike is elevated but gradual for the majority and not very strenuous. Our guide Anas grew up in the area and is very knowledgable. He provided excellent information, kept us at a comfortable pace and the kids entertained. We learnt a lot about the history, geology and culture from him. Highly recommend this tour and the company.

5.00Lovely experience! Anas was knowledgeable, kind and patient. We learned so much and he took so many pictures for us. He does a great job giving you a heads up before you enter a crowded area that you’ll be given an option to shop, go to a picture spot, ride donkeys, etc. so that we could make a choice without feeling pressured. Going through the back was definitely the move. Others going through the front have to climb 800+ stairs in the heat to reach the Monastery. Felt like it was worth it to have a guide to navigate from the hotel to all the spots and learn along the way.

5.00Our back door tour of Petra was AMAZING ! Definite 12 out of 10! We visited in early November and there were 4 of us- Our guide, Ahmed, was born and raised in the area and is very knowledgeable, explaining the sites along the way and answering all our questions. Ahmed met with us the evening before to set up our plan for the morning of our hike. He arranged an early ride (15JD) to the starting point bypassing the shuttle from the visitor’s center. The hike itself was moderate for us with uneven terrain and a bit of a climb nearing the Monastery. Hiking Petra is spectacular! So much to see and this secret back door tour is the way to go! Well worth the cost -Thanks Jihad and Ahmed for such a memorable experience!

5.00Excellent guide (Nayim). We learned so much about the history, geography, geology and culture. It was a beautiful hike of about 90 minutes to reach the Monastery and then we could walk slowly back through the Petra towards the front. Highly recommended.

5.00Great experience! The tour was very well organized, and the Back Trail route was absolutely stunning. Our guide Ahmad provided lots of interesting information about all the sites and, of course, knew all the best photo spots. I can highly recommend this tour without any hesitation.

5.00We were taken care of right from the start with a short drive (JOD10) to the ticket office and then on to the back entrance. The walk from there was excellent and mostly in the shade. There were few tourists which was nice! Our guide was excellent and it was a great experience, we would definitely recommend. Hotel to the Treasury was about 4 hours so there was plenty of time to explore on our own after the tour.
