Chinese Fishing Nets
Chinese fishing nets (Cheena vala) are a type of stationary lift net in India. They are fishing nets that are fixed land installations for fishing. While commonly known as "Chinese fishing nets" in India, the more formal name for such nets is "shore operated lift nets". Huge mechanical contrivances hold out horizontal nets of 20 m or more across. Each structure is at least 10 m high and comprises a cantilever with an outstretched net suspended over the sea and large stones suspended from ropes as counterweights at the other end. Each installation is operated by a team of up to six fishermen. While such nets are used throughout coastal southern China and Indochina, in India they are mostly found in the Indian cities of Kochi and Kollam, where they have become a tourist attraction. This way of fishing is unusual in India and almost unique to the area, as it was introduced by Chinese explorers. Dutch Cemetery
The Dutch cemetery is among the visited sites in Fort Kochi, famous for its imperial inhabitants during the olden days who left their homelands centuries ago to propagate and expand their own empire. The cemetery was consecrated in 1724 and is today managed by the Church of South India and it contains some interesting stories around it.

5.00The entire experience of the Dream Travel Kochin Tuk Tuk was amazing. They were waiting for us with six clean and spacious tuk-tuks. The tour was impressive—from the authentic laundry area to the oldest church in Cochin, Vasco da Gama’s tomb, the elephants, the shopping district, and more. The guides stayed with us at all times and offered support whenever we needed it. We truly have nothing to complain about. We’re glad we chose this tour to spend a beautiful day in Cochin. 5.00Best tuktuk experience with Shoib: we tell our intentions and he plans everything. He knows great places to eat fresh fish, by the sea, even accompanied us on the boat shuttle. Drives safely, comfortable and recent tuktuk. Speaks very good English. Do not hesitate!!

5.00This is my 3rd stay in Kochi and the 3rd time I have spent several days with Aslam as my guide and tuk-tuk driver. He is an excellent driver, skilled and careful, he knows the city and the surrounding area like the back of his hand (he was born and lives in Cochin), he is very kind, available and trustworthy... Aslam made my stays very interesting (he knows where to go for everything and he taught me hundreds of things about Indian culture...), safe, joyful, easy : he is a wonderful person, on a professional and human level. Go for it with your eyes closed !!!
