The Houseboat backwater programme has been designed for those who like to visit best canals in and around Aleppey. The main attraction of this trip is to have an experience of the best narrow canals, beautiful villages and village life of Aleppey.
About the boat -
This is one of the small private traditional boat used. Those who like the authentic traditional rice boat converted to a houseboat, this is the best example.
Open Country Boat trip
Another attraction is that we provide one hr open country boat to have an experience of very narrow canals where either the houseboat or shikkara boat used to make a trip.

Alleppey Backwaters
Arrival at boarding point by 1150hrs. Meet, receive and check in Houseboat at 12pm. Boat cruise from 1200hrs till 1730hrs with an hour lunch break. • Punnamada kayal – river famous for Nehru trophy boat race. • SNDP canal – one of the small canal in this trip. • Pamba river – almost 150ft width river. • Irumbanam Thod – best narrow canal. • Munnattumugam – Where three canals joints together making very attractive and beautiful place. 1330hrs Lunch at Meenappalli Kayal – small lake in the middle of Aleppey backwaters. Post lunch trip start at 1430hrs and continue till 1730hrs. Trip through some of the beautiful villages called Kainakari Village Venattukadu etc. 1530hrs to 1630hrs - Open boat narrow canal cruise - one of the best experience. At 1730hrs, houseboat finally halt for overnight stay. Once the houseboat halted, guest can walk around till the sun set. Evening Options and Activities - Fishing in the lake and backwaters. (houseboats is having fishing roads)
Kainakari is a small village in Aleppey. During your trip, you can experience local way of life as Kainakari is having many canals to connect with different places. Whether children going to school or locals go for a shopping, they need to use a public ferry service or a private water trasport like motor boat or canoe. All the se can witness during your through through Kainakari.
A small place on the banks of vembanadu lake where you can see many local shops, fish selling ladies, toddy shop and ayurvedic massage centers.
Kuttamangalam canal is a very narrow canal and famous among tourists where many local villages, paddy fields etc are located. The canal is very narrow and one need a small open boat to see this. Since many villages and paddy fields located here, you can experience an unforgettable Aleppey village experience. We have included 1hr open boat canal cruise thorugh Kuttamangalam in this trip.

Aleppey known as rice bowl of Kerala. Houseboat cruise through the diffierent canas in Aleppey where both sides you can see beautiful green carpeted paddy fields. This we can see from Oct till Feb end. Mar and Apr is harvesting season and these fields become golden colour.

Alleppey Backwaters
Day 2 : Aleppey. If the sky is clear, have a bed tea and you can enjoy a perfect sun rise from your houseboat. You can also choose a morning walk on the river side to see birds. Morning trip start at 0800hrs and it cover part of the biggest vembanadu lake. Before your houseboat trip ends at 9am they will provide authentic Kerala B/F. Check out from houseboat and Tour ends.

Private 01 Bed Room Houseboat
Premium boat : AC Bed room with wash room, living area cum dining, toiletries like towel, soap, one chef, driver & life saving equipments.
Activities during stay: Houseboat cruise, open country boat trip for an hour, village walk and local fishing.
Premium class: Boat classified as Dlx, Premium and Luxury. This is premium class service. AC available in bed room from 7pm to 6am.
Duration: 21 hours: Trip start at 12pm till 1730hrs with 1hr lunch break. Next day 8am to 9am.
Full board. : Welcome drink, Traditional Kerala lunch, Evening refreshments, Dinner and next day B/F. Veg, non veg, vegan etc available.
Cruise Alleppey backwaters.: Boat cruise through the canals and rivers in Alleppey. Kainakari village cruise, famous R Block & C Block is also covered.
Transportation.: Transportation is not required as this programme is in Houseboat.
Wooden traditional rice boat: This is a real old rice boat converted to a floating palace.

About this 2 room Houseboat: Two separate AC bed rooms (AC from 7pm to 6am), attached bath rooms, common living and dining space, sun deck.
During Houseboat stay: Boat cruise thorugh village and canals in Alleppey, authentic local food, village walking, canoe boat tour, fishing etc
About Boat: Premium class boat, bed room including duet, top floor and sundec, AC in the night, wash room towel, soap etc
Duration: 21 hours: Cruise from 12pm to 5.30pm with 1hr lunch break. No cruise from 6pm to 8am. Morning cruise from 8am to 9am.
Food: Start with welcome drink, authentic lunch, evening refreshments, next day breakfast and bottled mineral water.

5.00I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. It gave me a taste of the backwaters in Kerala. The food was outstanding, the communication from start to finish was great and the service excellent. Accommodation very comfortable and clean. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this tour, and this company.

5.00Great tour with good food and lovely peaceful overnight location, away from the business of the main port. The canoe ride down the smaller canals was the highlight even though it poured with rain and we got soaked!

5.00Booked a 1 night houseboat tour with Srees Tours. Tour information, including pickup spot was clearly identified and needed to be. The boat arrived promptly at noon and we boarded and departed immediately. We stopped next to a palm grove for lunch- a sumptuous affair with curry meen fish fry, and several vegetable curries- cabbage, okra, bitter gourd fried crisp. Around 3 pm we switched to a motorized canoe and navigated the smaller canals whilst observing life along the banks. Afternoon tea with fried plantain was served when we got back onto the houseboat . Around 6 pm we moored for the night and supper served at 8. Another variety of meats and vegetables. The bed was comfortable for 2 people and the shower and toilet facilities very clean but simple in outlay. The owners were very accommodating in allowing the crew to go out of their way to drop us off at our hotel in Kumarakom ( on the banks of Lake Vembanad) All in all, an exciting and unique experience in the backwaters of Kerala

4.00We had a wonderful experience. Captain Babu and cook Gigi took us through Kerala Bacwaters, the lake and canals. Plenty opportunities for taking pictures and videos. The whole sail was very calm and relaxing, deffinitely recommending after a difficult day. Food was exceptional, serving traditional Kerala style cousine. Please note that this is not a guided tour, hence 4 star rating.

5.00Our overnight houseboat trip was fantastic. Ram and Jijee provided five star service throughout the whole trip. The food was incredible and Ram had so much knowledge of the local area, and Jijee cooked us the best food we have had in India so far. I’d recommend this tour because it includes visiting a few different lakes and canals, a smaller boat cruise through a narrow canal that large houseboats can’t visit (Kurtan was lovely) and the best part is the houseboat can dock on the canal for the night vs parking back where you take off which is a unique and creates a truly tranquil experience

5.00Pros: amazing scenery, delicious and varied food, excellent service, comfortable bed, clean, aircon, fans in the bedroom and dining area as well. The tour in the smaller boat down smaller rivers was the most interesting part, though relatively short. The sections that were less busy with other boats were also particularly enjoyable. There is an amazing view out of the bedroom window. We saw loads of beautiful birds, a mongoose and stunning lush scenes of paddy fields and water lilies. The views were particularly impressive at sunset and dawn, with pink and golden light reflecting off the river. A surreal and memorable experience. There’s nothing to do but relax, so would recommend getting as much exercise as possible the day before if you’re the active type! Cons: brown water in the taps with limited water pressure at times (we didn’t risk the shower). Slightly odd dynamic being waited on by two reserved people who didn’t speak much English while we lazed around in this lavish boat under the watchful gaze of locals on the surrounding banks, though the staff were very attentive and polite. We saw other tourists taking photos of local people, which I can imagine might feel quite intrusive. It’s a long time motoring very slowly around a lake that’s often busy with other boats, so worth having an audiobook or something to listen to while you enjoy the views. Definitely wouldn’t recommend for more than one night, as might get a bit boring. 21 hours was plenty!
