It is a village located on the sea across from Sokcho Market, where displaced people who could not return to their hometowns after the Korean War settled and lived. Looking around here, you can indirectly feel the pain of residents who miss various North Korean foods and their entire families. To get to the village of Abai, we cross the sea on a special means of transportation called a sea boat, which is a unique way of pulling and moving wires connected to each dock.

From beginning to end, the tour more than met our expectations. Despite the rain, Jayce perceived and accommodated our every need. He was thoughtful, knowledgeable, and a great driver. At Hyangho Beach, Jayce even provided props for our photoshoot; we were able to help pull the small ferry from Abai Village across the channel to the Sokcho Fish Market where we were able to sample some local delicacies; and the 2 hours allotted at Mt. Seorak was perfect for us. Overall, it was a perfect and memorable day! Thank you!

We had a really great day, we started at the beach, followed by Sokcho market/Abai village and then the mountain of which we used the cable car. Jayce was a really good guide, he was happy to answer any questions we had, he was informative and patient with us. He also gave some personal touches in the tour with a few different sweet treats, that we wouldn’t have thought to try so we really appreciated his thoughtfulness. We would recommend this tour for anyone wanting to explore what is outside of Seoul, it’s worth the visit.
