Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral
Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral, built in the late 1880s by French colonists, is one of the few remaining strongholds of Catholicism in the largely Buddhist Vietnam. Located in Paris Square, the name Notre Dame was given after the installation of the statue ‘Peaceful Notre Dame’ in 1959. In 1962, the Vatican conferred the Cathedral status as a basilica and gave it the official name of Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica. Measuring almost 60 metres in height, the cathedral’s distinctive neo-Romanesque features include the all-red brick façade (which were imported from Marseille), stained glass windows, two bell towers containing six bronze bells that still ring to this day, and a peaceful garden setting in the middle of downtown Ho Chi Minh City District 1.
Saigon Central Post Office
The Central Post Office in Ho Chi Minh is a beautifully preserved remnant of French colonial times and perhaps the grandest post office in all of Southeast Asia. Located next door to Notre Dame Cathedral, the two cultural sites can be visited together and offers visitors a chance to imagine life in Vietnam during the times of the Indochinese Empire. The building was designed by Alfred Foulhoux and features arched windows and wooden shutters, just as it would have in its heyday in the late 19th Century.

Very organized, local guide contact me via Whatsapp the day before the tour. Pick us up at the spot promptly. Hani is our tour guide, her English is very fluent, she took us exactly where we want to be, pretty much all was our arrangement point.

Outstanding communication via the app and whats app too, excellent reception at the port, the drive and our tour guide where polite/knowledgeable/experienced and flexible with our requested amendments. Blake was an outstanding guide, knowledgeable, kind and amenable to the requested changes to the itinerary as we had a 7 year old in our party who needed food before our scheduled lunch break. He found a great Thai resturant which also catered for him as a vegetarian. Our Driver Tho was excellent and we felt safe at all times despite the craziness of the roads (in comparison to the UK). Overall an excellent private trip which ticked all the boxes and we met 2 really nice guys who looked after the three of us exceptionally well. Would thoroughly recommend Blake and Maximus Tour Company. Thank you. Hope your wedding party was fun, Blake.

We had an amazing day in Ho Chi Minh City! Peter was an incredible guide providing great information, answering all our questions, and customizing the itinerary to meet our preferences! The ride from the port to the city and back seemed short with such engaging conversation! Highly recommend Peter for any tour!

We had an incredible and memorable day in Saigon with Vin! The tour was very well curated and organized, Vin is kind, professional, and deeply knowledgeable, and we managed to see a lot in just one day: History, food (coffee! Pho!), art, museums, culture, shopping. Pick up and drop off at the port and a private driver that allowed us to get in and out of each destination quickly and easily. Highly recommend

Great experience for family of 9 age 8-80. Capt Bruno gave an awesome tour. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and entertaining. His enthusiasm was very engaging. I would definitely recommend Captain Bruno and this tour company for any excursion. He made everything easy and comfortable as we toured Ho Chi Minh City. We were also very glad to have a huge, new air conditioned bus for our trip from the cruise ship. Everything was on time and top notch

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour! Bruno was an excellent guide - probably the best we’ve had over the years. The tour covered a nice sampling of Ho Chi Min City.

We took the Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon City) tour with our guide, Bruno, and had a great experience. He’s incredibly knowledgeable and did a wonderful job highlighting the city’s most meaningful spots. We started at the Saigon Central Post Office, then visited a charming area for book lovers before heading to the War Remnants Museum, which was heartbreaking and deeply poignant. We stopped at an artisan craft market where we watched artists create stunning works using resin, mother of pearl, goose eggshells, and other materials. Each piece takes months to complete and the craftsmanship was truly impressive. While there, we tried some unique local coffees, including weasel and egg coffee. An experience in itself. Lunch at Taste of Saigon was well organized and absolutely delicious. We ended the day at the market browsing some “designer” bags, which was fun and lighthearted after such a full day. Be prepared to haggle for the best price. Overall, it was a fantastic tour and Bruno took excellent care of us from start to finish. Highly recommend this private tour.
