Riisitunturi National Park

At Riisitunturi National Park, travelers will explore one of Finland’s most iconic winter landscapes on a guided winter hike. The experience takes place along maintained trails, leading through snow-covered forests famous for their dramatic “Arctic Snow Monsters” — trees shaped by extreme snowfall, wind and freezing temperatures. During the visit, the guide leads the group at a relaxed pace to scenic viewpoints and the most photogenic areas of the park. Guests will stop frequently to admire the landscape, take photos and learn how these unique snow formations are created, as well as hear insights about Arctic nature and Lapland’s winter environment. The visit also includes a stop at a wilderness area within the national park, where travelers enjoy a traditional Finnish lunch by open fire before continuing the hike.

This is a 2 hour 1.5 KM Mountain Hike in the snow and the most magical experience and stunning views. Our host Erwin made it very special with lots of interesting additional info and went at a leisurely pace with plenty of opportunities to take photos. It’s easy to do and you can hire all the equipment you need that’s included in the price. Had a lovely BBQ on a real fire afterwards and Erwin let us help with making the fire. Superb experience and a must do for your stay in Lapland.

We loved the hike! The nature is breathtaking and the scenery is magnificent. Huge thanks to Santiago for being a fantastic guide and for making a delicious lunch along the way. I’d come back anytime!

The hike was stunning and it was fun to have lunch midway. Samuli was a great guide! The drive is quite far from Rovaniemi, it was worth it but just be prepared to spend several hours in the van each way.

The Riisitunturi Snow Monsters Tour & Campfire BBQ was absolutely breathtaking. The snow-covered trees looked magical, like something from a winter fairytale, and the views were incredible. Mirco made the experience truly special. He was professional, knowledgeable, and very kind throughout the hike. He shared fascinating information about the park and Arctic nature, while making sure everyone felt comfortable and safe. The campfire BBQ was cozy and well organized, and once again, Mirco took amazing professional-quality photos for us — memories we’ll treasure forever. If you’re in Rovaniemi, this tour is a must — and Mirco is an outstanding guide!
