5.00Alex provided a fantastic tour of some of the more unique spots around Amsterdam. I was surprised at the variety of locations, his historical knowledge, and the variety of things to do during the tour. His humor and pacing throughout the day kept the tour fun and lively, and the the tour was a good mixture of free time and guided as we traveled. I would highly recommend to anyone who's interested in the history of the Netherlands outside of Amsterdam, you'll learn to appreciate the history that isn't always taught but it's still relevance to the country.

4.00While we did not actually take this tour because our host did not have enough bookings to cover his costs, I am rating him a for his prompt communications and efforts to make it work on another day. While the alternative date did not work for us, he made every effort to accommodate us, and when that wasn't possible, he promptly refunded our money. As it turned out, we took the train to Delft instead, and while we did not have the benefit of the tour, we nevertheless enjoyed ourselves.

4.00I really enjoyed seeing Delft, which is such a charming town. After our tour of the Royal Delft factory, I have a new appreciation for these dishes. Our stop in Rotterdam was short, but it was also fascinating to see the architecture. The other members of our tour group wanted to see the Mauritshuis museum in The Hague, and tour guide Nico was very flexible in fitting this trip into our schedule. Fifty minutes is not quite enough time to experience a world-class art museum, but I'm still very grateful I saw these paintings (you have to pay extra -- admission is not part of this tour). We had a small group -- 8 people, plus our tour guide -- and the van was very comfortable. If the tour had filled all 10 seats in the van, however, it would have been a tight fit and I would have been uncomfortable during the drive. I sat in the back, and occasionally it was hard to hear Nico's voice, depending on the noise from the road surfaces we were driving on. I've done European day tours like this before, and I would say this was comparable to other tours I've experienced. It often feels like you want to spend more time in certain places (in this case, Delft), and perhaps it would be better for tours to either cut back on the number of stops or else extend the tour so it's a bit longer.

4.00Fun, a bit too much history for us, but if you are into that this is for you. Tour guide was friendly and let us wonder off as we needed to make the experience funnier for us.
