My wife Erica and I booked the Sake Pairing Workshop in Shinjuku for our wedding anniversary, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip to Tokyo. From the moment we arrived, the hosts made us feel completely at home — warm, friendly, and full of personality. We shared plenty of laughs throughout the evening, which gave the experience such a fun and relaxed energy. Our guides, Anika and Kosei, was fantastic — knowledgeable without ever being too formal. She explained the different types of sake, how each one is made, and how to match them with Japanese dishes in a way that was easy to follow and genuinely interesting. What we loved most was how authentic yet laid-back the whole night felt. It wasn’t a stiff tasting session — it was more like sitting around a table with friends, enjoying great food, drinks, and conversation. The setting in Shinjuku added to the charm, tucked away but full of local character.
