This late afternoon game drive gives you an opportunity to see everything from giraffe, antelope, and hippo (a rarity in the Windhoek area) as well as a breathtaking view for sunset. Durstenbrook Guest Farm is the 1st guest farm in Namibia, and an excellent place to escape to for the afternoon, just a 1hour drive from the city centre.

Safari Gastefarm Dusternbrook

Collection for this activity at the confirmed time. Depending on the month of the year. In Namibia, the Winter collection will be from 13h30 to 14h00, and in the summer from 14h30 to 15h00. The drive from Windhoek to Durstenbrook Guest Farm is approximately 1 hour. On arrival, we started heading out on a game drive throughout the farm. Durstenbrook itself is vast, and the drive offers the opportunity to spot anything from huge herds of wildebeest, springbok to kudu, oryx, giraffe, before a visit to the dam where you can check out the resident hippo family wallowing in the mud. We conclude the drive with a sunset sundowner on a mountain top overlooking the whole Windhoek area. On return from the game drive we return to Windhoek, and you will be dropped off at your accommodation between 19h30 - 20h00

Perfect trip if you are a few days in Windhoek. There was a variety of animals to see and the sundowner sticks with me the most from the whole trip. Positively noteworthy is the knowledge that the tour guide has communicated about each animal seen and the selection of snacks at the sundowner.

From pick up to drop off, this was a great experience. We were able to see elephants, kudos, oryx, baboons, wilder beasts, and many more animals. The snacks and drinks at sunset was everything. I highly recommend this experience!

The tour itself was good. Chameleon tours transfer van managed to get stuck in a very small amount of water. The farm picked us up and gave us a very good excursion but we ended in the dark without a van. There was communication and we didn’t know how we would get back to Windhoek. It was cold, dark and we were hungry! It was the farm staff who were left with the responsibility and solved the problem.

Great experience, with a knowledgeable tour guide. The landscape was amazing. We didn't see that many animal species, but it felt like a real safari with wild animals rather than a zoo experience. The hippos were cool to watch!

This tour is great, there’s a good selection of animals and you can get pretty close without agitating the animals. The area is beautiful and there was plenty of water available throughout the tour if you didn’t bring any. Our guide Festus made everyone feel comfortable immediately and was more than happy to answer all our questions.

I had the opportunity to make a half day trip to Düsternbrook with Chameleon Safaris, and what can I say, I will never forget it. Everything and everything was perfect! Especially thanks to the wonderful people Shaka and Festus, who accompanied us and of whom we learned a lot about animals, country and culture of Namibia. We saw more animals than expected and enjoyed every single moment. Altogether highly recommended!
