Burana Tower and Konorchek Canyon
Before embarking on our hike, we'll delve into the rich history of the region with a visit to the Burana Tower, located in the ancient city of Balasagun. This historic tower, a significant part of the Silk Road, offers a gateway to the past. Our guide will lead you through the local archaeology museum, where artifacts from the Silk Road era vividly illustrate the region's historical significance. Outside, encounter the mysterious balbals – stone markers inscribed with ancient texts and images, echoing voices from the past. Climbing the tower, you're rewarded with panoramic views of the sprawling Chui Valley and the majestic Tien-Shan mountains – a perfect backdrop for introspection and memorable photos.

5.00It was a fantastic experience. The guide was very kind and took care of everything—transportation, food, and the excursion. He spoke excellent English and told us a lot about his country, so it was very interesting. The excursion was incredible, with truly beautiful scenery. It’s not suitable for everyone, as you need to be a bit fit, but the guide also waits for those who prefer to go at a slower pace. Highly recommended.

5.00This tour was a full day tour. I really enjoyed seeing the tower before the hike. The guide and driver were excellent. The hike was steep but expected. My guide was fun to talk to and took as many breaks as needed. The food provided made for a nice lunch at the lake. The lake was amazing. I would recommend this tour and company.

5.00A fantastic hike to Kol Tor lake! And by hike, I mean HIKE! Farukh was a fantastic tour guide, who made the experience all the more enjoyable. Burana tower was as beautiful as the pictures suggest, with views right over the Tian Shan.

4.00Our guide, Faruk, was kind and knowledgeable and spoke English very well. He brought us a lovely lunch and had plenty of water for the trip. The only negative was that he had a standard sedan car and so it was very slow going on the rough roads to Kol Tor. He was a very safe driver though.

5.00Excellent hike with my guide Anvar! I can’t recommend this hike enough. Getting out to see more rural parts of Kyrgyzstan was remarkable and this hike gives those opportunities. Word of caution this is a more demanding hike, but the end is worth it.

4.00My son and I had a great day hiking. There was too much snow and ice for us to make it to the lake, which would not be an issue in the warmer months, but the scenery was fantastic and our guide was awesome. Our trip lasted 13 hrs in total, which was too long and next time we would cut out the tower part of the trip to make the day more manageable and just focus on the hiking.

5.00Spectacular hike! We faced more snow than we expected but my guide Faruk was amazing. He was fun and motivating but also gave me my space. We didn't make it to the tower but the hike alone is well worth it. I would definitely book again with Datka

5.00Our trip to Kol Tor Lake and the Burana Tower was an amazing experience. We love being out in nature and were mostly looking forward to the hike, but the Burana Tower turned out to be a really nice extra. The day started with a visit to the Burana Tower, one of the oldest monuments in Kyrgyzstan and a UNESCO World Heritage site. It was fascinating to learn about its history and the Silk Road from our friendly guide, Talgat. After that it was time to head into the mountains. A 1.5-hour drive brought us to the trailhead at 1700 meters above sea level. The hike to Kol Tor Lake, about 14 kilometers long, started off easy but quickly became steeper and more challenging. The scenery along the way was incredible. After about 3 hours of climbing, we reached Kol Tor Lake at 2700 meters, and it was absolutely stunning. The turquoise water surrounded by majestic mountains was unforgettable. What made it even more magical was how the color of the lake seemed to change with the sunlight. It felt like a different view every minute. It was a well-organized trip, and Talgat made it even better with his enthusiasm. If you love nature and hiking, this adventure is something you can’t miss!

5.00A day of adventure I’ll never forget. Couldn’t have been any better in my opinion. I Also couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide, Talgat was exceptional. He loves his job and country and it shows! I learnt a lot from him Would definitely do it again
