We had an amazing day with our guide Pene in Nagasaki. He was a wealth of knowledge about history as well as modern day living in Nagasaki. He would share history and then let us explore on our own and at our own pace. He took us to an amazing seafood restaurant with a view of the ocean. The food was delicious, fresh and reasonably priced with ice cold beer. We decided to take taxi's rather than public transportation which allowed us to be more efficient with less up hill walking so we were able to complete our entire itinerary in the alloted time and never felt rushed. This was the best tour of our 2 week stay so far. Nagasaki is beautiful and I would highly recommend Pene.

First and foremost, if your tour guide is Pene Dalton you are in for a treat! He is personable, accommodating and loves to show off his city of Nagasaki! He knows the history, current events, and world view of everything he showed us. We felt we were part of his family by the end of the tour. We went first to view Nagasaki from the highest point which involved an aerial cable car. That gave us a layout of the city and we were able to locate important historic and modern day sites. There was also a shrine before we boarded the cable car. We then went to the Atomic Peace Park and museum and cherry blossoms were blooming all around! We made a quick food stop in China Town (which is something we asked to do), then off to Glover Garden and Oura Cathedral. Our time was well spent in Nagasaki as we had limited time due to the cruise ship schedule. Pene timed everything perfectly and accompanied us back to the ship. We couldn't have asked for a more spectacular day!

We had just 4 on this tour, allowing for easy access to our guide, Pene (like the pasta, [penne] as he would say), who was wonderful, and spontaneous changes to the itinerary. We had plenty of time to explore the Peace Garden and the Atomic Bomb Museum, the old Dutch trading center, and other sites. Pene told us a lot about Japanese history and culture. He took us to a restaurant that served Nagasaki-style food (delicious) and we were grateful he was there, since we doubted we could have navigated ordering food ourselves! I highly recommend this tour, especially with Pene as guide. Six hours passed very quickly with interesting discussion, lots of information sharing, walking and riding public transportation and a beautiful city as background. Pene's phone: +81 80 3991 7720
