Learn how this fishing village has changed since its foundation by the first Portuguese king, D. Afonso Henriques in 1165. From here, follow your guide to one of the most famous avenues, 25 de Abril Avenue, and learn about this date and its importance in Portuguese history. Along the avenue stop and view old photographs of the avenue in the 20th century and imagine yourself in another time, where fishing boats occupied the beach and waterfront.
Continue your walk in the eastern part of Sesimbra and stop in front of a famous pastry shop to taste the Farinha Torrada, a typical sweet from Sesimbra. Stroll through the important squares in the village center and take a look at the local market products.
Observe monuments from the 15th and 16th centuries and enter a late-19th century building for a tasting of regional wine and cheese.
Before your tour concludes snap some beautiful photos and get directions from your guide to your hotel or continue exploring independently.

5.00Sesimbra is a gem of a town, full of beautiful streets — you turn a corner and there is a breathtaking view of the ocean that is so close! The tour included tastings of local pastry, cheese, and wine (all delicious — still dreaming about it), and a walking history tour of the fortresses, churches, and fishing way of life. Tomás also pointed out several spots that are popular now, such as restaurants, local gathering clubs, and new additions to the beautiful town. When it came to the guide, there is not one better than Tomás! I have worked in the travel industry for ten years, and he is one of the best guides I have met; he is very considerate of all members of the group when it comes to walking/interests, and extremely knowledgeable. If you are looking for a more local experience than what is offered in Lisbon, with an amazing guide in a beautiful coastal town, do yourself a favor and book this tour!

5.00I visited Sesimbra last weekend and scheduled with the Sesimbra Walking Tour and would choose countless times! Tomás and Leonor besides being very friendly and cheerful, they have a lot of knowledge about the whole history and provided us with a visit rich in knowledge and gastronomy! They gave us to taste the regional cheeses and wine. They were part of a very happy stay. Thank you and we'll be back <3

5.00This is the best way to see this part of the country. Our guide, Tomás, was amazing because he was a wealth of information about the history of Portugal and Sesimbra. He was so friendly, so knowledgeable and we loved Sesimbra! Very good wine, typical pastry and cheese.

5.00Thomás was among the most professional tour guides we have ever met. He was organized, prepared, and his tour was almost choreographed! He walked around Sesimbra with us as he explained the history, culture, and local commerce. He planned bathroom and water breaks as well as a sampling of local cheese, wine, and bread. He even recommended restaurants. He speaks english fluently. It was interesting to see that everyone in the town either knew him or his girlfriend and were thrilled to see him. He gave us a perspective that only a local could have provided. We enjoyed his tour so much that we decided to take his afternoon tour of the local commercial fish auction!

This small fishing village is a delightful mix of rich history, vibrant local life, natural beauty and delicious fish restaurants. My guides were able to transmit their passion for the “Pexitos”. 5.00Tomas was excellent! Fun, knowledgeable and professional. It was great to be with a local who showed so much passion in sharing history and cultural stories of Sesimbra. I really enjoyed learning to speak Portuguese (at least a little) He could speak Spanish, French and Nordic too. A very nice day and I appreciate this great experience. Obrigato!!! Oh and the wine and cheese was a great ending to the tour! Deliciosa!

5.00The original tour I had booked was cancelled, but what a wonderful turn of events to come across this tour. I was met by the wonderful guide, Marcelo. His tour was rich with the beautiful history of the Sesimbra and the resilience of the fisherman who provided for its village and the rest if its region. During this delightful walk, we sampled local toasted wheat, wine and cheese. Well worth the tour. This was the best introduction to Sesimbra one could have. Obrigada!!
