Centrul Istoric Sighisoara
Our first stop is the remarkably preserved medieval fortress of Sighisoara, one of the few still inhabited in Europe. Enclosed by nine of its original fourteen defence towers, the fortress boasts stunning medieval architecture and captivating legends, including tales of Vlad the Impaler, the historical figure behind the Dracula myth. We'll climb the Covered Staircase to the Church on the Hill, wander through colourful medieval streets, and, if you wish, ascend the iconic Clock Tower (closed on Mondays) for breath-taking panoramic views—just as medieval guards once did.
Tarnaveni
Next, we’ll make our way to the vineyard, passing through picturesque Transylvanian plains and charming villages. The Tarnava region, renowned for its cool climate and rolling hills, is home to some of Romania’s finest high-acid, aromatic white wines, particularly Feteasca Alba, Feteasca Regala and Riesling. Shaped by the Tarnava River’s unique terroir, these wines are crisp, fresh and bursting with floral and fruity notes. Saxon settlers played a key role in developing viticulture here during the Middle Ages and today, the region remains a centre for exceptional Romanian white wines. During our wine tasting experience, we’ll sample three distinct varieties, perfectly paired with palate cleansers, for a delightful sensory journey.

This was a fantastic and informative tour! My friend and I booked it two days in advance and they were very accommodating, hotel pickup included. Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and made the whole day wonderful, explaining to us many sides to Romanian history and culture. Sighisoara is a lovely town and very worth visiting. Unfortunately Biertan fortified church was unexpectedly closed, but our guide made other arrangements on-the-fly to take us to another nearby historical church which was also lovely to visit. The short stop at a gypsy coppersmith's house to browse his wares was also a great experience. Overall, I can't recommend this tour enough. It is a big day, but if you are interested in the history of Cluj and want to know more from a local's perspective, then this is the tour for you!

I took a 1 day tour with Geta from Cluj. The tour was arranged very last minute, and she was very helpful in making sure I made it to Sighiosoara during my short time in Romania. In addition, Geta gave me a tour of Cluj upon returning back to the city. I would highly recommend doing a tour with Geta!

This full day tour was one of the best experiences we have had on our four month journey through Eastern Europe. It was more than simply a sightseeing tour. Our guide Joseph's knowledge of Romanian and European history enriched our experience immensely. We came away with a better understanding of today's Romania because Joseph took the time to explain Romania's past. Highly recommended!

The tour was excellent. I reserved the tour 4 days before my arrival and I happened to be a solo attendant. My guide, Joseph, was very kind and knowledgeable about medieval ages, histories and cultures of Romania. He kindly added two additional places on the way back to Cluj-Napoca. I definitely recommend this tour to everyone.
