In the past, Silk Route trade passed through many of the Central Asian cities including Almaty, Bishkek, Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Merv. As Caravans stopped in these cities on their way from China to Europe, they exchanged not only goods and ethnic groups, but also knowledge and experience. Stantours can very much be recommended for Turkmenistan. We booked 8 days – and everything went according to plan (Merv, Ashgabad, Derwasa, Kunya Urgench). Stantours were also very responsive and informative in advance. Hotels approximately as described. Extremely skilled guide (Dmitry – he could be a lecturer in history). Good driving – and extremely helpful for practical issues. A minor flaw regarding transfer to Uzbekistan, but David from Stantours sorted it out without delay. Thanks.
