Chris was a wonderful guide who made sure we had a wondeful day in the mountains of Hokkaido. We had an incredible snowshoeing experience and ended the day with a wonderful hansun over looking a beautiful lake in a beautiful setting. Chris made the day special.

I would rate snowshoeing as my no.1 attraction in Hokkaido. The wilderness of Hokkaido's forest fully covered by snow was uncovered beautifully by Chris, my tour guide. He is super familiar with the area and carefully avoided any area that can potentially be challenging to trek or risky due to crevices or waterbodies. The general opinion is that snowshoeing is not for everyone and not easy to do. This is definitely a myth! Anyone who can walk well can do this tour! At the end of snowshoeing tour, we went to the onsen as well which was nice. A visit to Hokkaido is not complete without this tour.

Amazing!!!!! Chris was very experienced and knowledgeable. It was our first experience snow shoeing so we so glad he was very patient. We were treated with pre cooked lunch in the trails and an onsen at the end of the hike.

Our guide Chris was very knowledgeable about the Northern Japan endemic trees . We had good learning about spruce and other kinds of trees in Hokkaido prefecture. Despite the heavy snow , my husband and I felt safe under the guidance of Chris. He gave tips on how to use snow shoes going uphill in steep slippery snow and downhill as well. He prepared packed lunch in pouches but because of the heavy snow , we opt to go back to the van after 523masl summit . Chris patiently waited outside in the van during our Onsen and even treated us to authentic Hokkaido Ramen (with free boiled eggs) at a local restaurant . My husband and I had our "Anniversary Romantic Adventure" Snow shoeing in Hokkaido ! Thank you Chris and to Viator

24/2/2025 Chris was exceptionally accommodating and patient throughout our snowshoe hiking adventure on Fujino Fuji, which stands at 532 meters. With Chris as our guide, we snowshoed from the base to the summit of the mountain. We are grateful for his encouragement as he patiently helped us navigate the snow-covered slopes. Along the hike, he encouraged us to pause, listen quietly to the cheerful chirping of blue robins among the leafless trees, and observe the winter breeze blowing the piled snow off the branches. We also spotted tracks of Japanese squirrels, raccoons, and foxes. The onsen experience included with our adventure was the icing on the cake! We will definitely be returning for another exciting 3-day hike in Hokkaido with Chris, who also has his website: trekmatehokkaido.com. Thank you, Chris, for a breathtaking day!
