A 60 minute tour with our friendly guides who will provide an insight into Stewart Island’s community, history and environment. Unspoiled, incredibly beautiful and steeped in stories of Maori legend, Stewart Island is well worth this informative introduction. There is plenty of time to get off the bus for photo stops and short walks along the way. Highlights include the Rakiura National Park entrance at Lee Bay, Halfmoon and Horseshoe Bays and views of Paterson Inlet from Observation Rock.

5.00Bevan gave my husband and I a very memorable and interesting tour of the parts of Stewart Island which are able to be driven around. We were amazed at the history, the stunning views and the friendly, welcoming way Bevan introduced us to this beautiful island. We highly recommend this tour!
Good tour of the island

4.00We booked this at the last minute after the ship's itinerary changed and our Ulva Island trip couldn't be re-booked. We're glad we did. The tour offers a nice drive around the island with good commentary and several stops. The scenery is very nice. The price is very reasonable (our fellow passengers who booked through the ship paid double). My only complaint is that the seats in the bus have next to no legroom and aren't very comfortable.
Surprising tour for such a small town

4.00We were the only 2 on the tour because the morning ferry did not arrive due to bad weather. Real NZ still ran the tour for us. Bevan was our driver and guide and our 1-hour tour turned into a 1.5-hour tour. He was enthusiastic and made sure we saw as much as we could. It was interesting to hear about life on the island (past and present), the community spirit, the recycling plant, the architecture, the health care system and much more. The population is only 400 but it appears to be a desirable place to live based on the real estate prices. We recommend that you book well in advance, we only got a seat at the last minute, we had been on a wait list.

His local knowledge, passion for the island, and genuine enthusiasm brought the history and scenery to life. We learned so much about the people, wildlife, and unique character of Stewart Island. Rhys made the whole tour feel personal and unforgettable.

5.00Todays tour was a fantastic introduction to Oban and Stewart Island. Local lady, Leah, was very impressive with her local, historical and technical knowledge. Her driving and consideration for others on the road made me feel safe in a new location. Leah engaged with her visitors willingly and proved helpful with finding best vistas for this amateur photographer. An added bonus was Leahs knowledge and passion for protecting the island wilderness. An excellent advocate for native wildlife and pristine locations. The vehicle was very clean and offered great views. Highly recommend Real NZ and definitely Leah for a local tour.

5.00did the 90 minute tour with Bevan and loved every minute. Bevan shared his knowledge of the Pakeha and Maori of the Island as we visited many beautiful locations. Just a wonderful spot made better by locals who love their homes.

5.00What a way to see around Stewart Island . We had the most incredible tour guide who made our trip with his wealth of knowledge of the history and present day on Stewart Island. We had a lot of laughs he was very comical, such fun and we could easily understand him. Thank you!
