St. James Parish Church
We will drive past the famous Sandy Lane to Holetown, now a very affluent town. This is where the British first landed. We will stop at the beautiful St James parish church where we will discover some of its fascinating history.
Speightstown
Passing through Speightstown, the second largest town in Barbados and the most traditional, we'll see the variety of local fruits and vegetables that vendors sell by the side of the road.

5.00Mike gave us a wonderful tour today - so much interesting information given in a most personable and humorous way. If you are considering using such a service then don’t hesitate . He is both careful and conscientious. Plus, Sue will quickly correspond with you and make clear everything you need to know. I very rarely review things but this small enterprise deserves to be praised.

5.00To appreciate my review, you need to know that I absolutely love learning! The Real Barbados tour with Mike’s Taxi & Tours company was excellent. Our tour guide’s knowledge of history was apparent in the details the shared. Our scheduled pick up was seamless. As we drove toward Bridgetown, our guide pulled over to a shady spot so they could give us the breakdown on some history. Our guide started with 1492 and ended at independence!!! Yes, I took notes and LOVED doing it. And just like that, we were on our way again headed towards our first destination. I also appreciated the personal stories our guide shared during the tour. I especially like learning how trips to the east side of the island and BethSheba served as the vacation spot for many Bajan families.

5.00Ten stars ⭐️ ! This tour was relaxed, and Mike did an amazing job sharing knowledge of Barbados culture and history. Door to door service to and from our hotel and the BEST tasting rum punch!! We did a private tour for my birthday! 🎉 a memorable way to celebrate the beauty of life and living ... on Island time 🥳🥰 . I definitely recommend this tour! Well worth it all around.

5.00I picked this tour as Mike and Sue only have five star reviews and it looked amazing. It did not disappoint. Mike was knowledgeable, entertaining, warm and really important for me he was a safe, gentle, considerate driver. We learnt so much with Mike and if you just do one tour in Barbados, this is the one to pick. Sue is clearly the organiser and made a wonderful day even better by organising those little extras - we loved the rum punch. We felt we saw most of the Island, learnt loads in a fun way and this tour is a 10/10 from us. Thank you.

5.00My husband and I booked this tour at the end of a cruise. While on the ship, I found Mike's Maxi Taxi on line and decided to call. Sue was incredibly accommodating. She explained that Mike would be taking a much-needed day off then, but would reach out to Mike to see if he would be willing to take us on tour. We are so glad that he agreed. Mike was so knowledgeable and genuine. We learned so much about the history of Barbados and its people. We appreciated Mike's sharing about his experiences growing up on the island and sharing about his family as well. We visited St. James Parish Church, Cherry Tree Hill, Animal Flower Cave and the beautiful east coast. We had a great lunch stop and tried flying fish for the first time! We stopped at Bathsheba, which I loved! Such a good vibe. Mike shared his and Sue's wonderful rum punch there in the park. Thank you Mike and Sue for introducing and welcoming us to your beautiful island!

5.00When my partner and I go to visit new countries, we really enjoy learning about the history of the people and the land. Mike gave us that and so much more. We had a lovely day traveling a good majority of Barbados. Even at booking Mike and Sue were accommodating by picking us up at our hotel that wasn’t on the main list of hotel pick ups. Mike was incredibly knowledgeable and spoke to everything from Rihanna to plantocracy. I’m grateful he shared so much with us! We visited beautiful areas, while also discussing the impact of being a British colony for so long. Had my first flying fish at the lunch spot- delicious! It was a wonderful mix of sightseeing and learning about Barbados.

5.00Mike's Maxi Taxi provided a shortened version of this tour on our final day in the Caribbean where Mike picked us up at the cruise port and dropped us off at the airport. Mike is absolutely brilliant, very informative and proud of the beautiful island of Barbados, providing us with plenty of opportunities to stop for photos, have a walk around some stunning sights and to enable us to see the real Barbados beyond the tourist hotspots. Amongst the stops were the St James Parish Church, Animal Flower Cave, Cherry Tree Hill and our favourite, Bathsheba. Mike and Sue's communication was always prompt, and they are both very friendly people. Book this tour and you will have an amazing time...and an amazing rum punch!

5.00We were incredibly fortunate to have been able to meet Mike, not only for him to pick us up from the airport to the hotel and then later on to the Port, but also to allow us to share what I would call his Legendary Tour of Barbados. We had been to Barbados before, and had taken another tour, but this one was a revelation. Mike is an excellent raconteur and knows the island like no one else, and his love and pride for his homeland glows. We saw almost every corner of every Parish with scenes such as seen in the added photos. You should be aware that Mike is a PhD - Pot Hole Dodger, an essential function with the roads in Barbados where they don't even have frost, but they have potholes that can swallow cars whole! However, the untold part of any other review is Mike's wife, Sue, who served as our unofficial travel agent before we even reached the island. She gave assistance to us by rapid responsive emails with much appreciated advice regarding hotels, dining, distances, and so much more. You, like us, will find them to become instant friends. Mike pointed out many "National Treasures" during the tour, but at the end, I added one - Mike should be designated one as well. I cannot recommend Mike's Maxi Taxi highly enough. If you have even a few days on the island (we only had two), you owe it to yourself to meet Mike and take his now legendary 6 hour Real Barbados Tour!
