On this 3-hour Street Food Tour, you’ll discover the real Ortigia—through its flavors, hidden corners, and local stories.

Vegetarian options available!

We’ll start like true locals: with a refreshing Sicilian iced coffee.

Then head to the oldest bakery in town to try what I believe is the best Arancino in Siracusa—made fresh every morning.

We’ll walk through quiet alleys, the fishermen’s square, and corners most visitors never reach.

At the market, you’ll taste capuliato, baked ricotta, pistachio salami, almond pastries, pistachio cream, and—depending on the season—Pachino tomatoes or prickly pears.

Then we’ll meet my extended family of cheesemakers and enjoy ricotta, mozzarella, and the best panino of your life.

We’ll finish with a fresh fruit granita from Ortigia’s most traditional gelateria.

See the island through local eyes. I'd love to share its flavors and stories with you.

We will start from Archimedes Square, in front of the beautiful Diana Fountain, which represents the goddess of hunting and was considered the city's protector by the Greeks. From here, we will venture out to explore the island, seeking new flavors and aromas, immersing ourselves as locals rather than tourists.

We will then proceed along Via Roma, one of the most charming and beautiful streets on the island of Ortigia. We'll sample the coffee that us locals enjoy here. Naturally, as true Italians, we start the day with coffee. However, for those who don't drink it, there will be an alternative option available.

Dario was a superb host, with loads of local knowledge and recommendations. All the food stops were exceptional and we came away feeling like we had been immersed in true ortigo culture. We were able to use the information we learnt in our following days, so, we recommend doing this early in your trip.

Here you get specialties to taste, both at the market and at the authentic dining places in the alleys - inspected by the live stories of Dario, about the local places in Ortigia and the history of Sicily, Italy, the Greeks and why the place has become as it has become - recommended, everyone has something to learn from Dario and he also builds friendship in the group along the way:)

Spending a few hours with Dario on this food tour was amazing. It is evident he is very proud of his culture and all that it offers. We learned some history we learned about food and we saw parts of Ortigia that tourists don’t typically go to. I would highly recommend going on this tour to get acquainted with the area and its wonderful food.

Dario was highly engaging and kind. He repeatedly made sure everyone was included, even in tight spaces (coffee shop, panini shop), taking time to answer questions from tour group members and repeating himself when two members had to leave the group temporarily and then returned. The food information and tastings were excellent! And he maintained a good and leisurely pace. My wife, daughter and I all really enjoyed the tour. And the recommendations he provided for after the tour have been top notch. Highly recommended tour of this beautiful city and tastes of its food.

Dario is simply amazing! He is truly a local, knows all the great places to eat, and teaches you about the history and culture. He is thoughtful, patient, fun, funny, and charming. The food choices were all classic Sicilian/Ortigian delicacies, and you will not go hungry or thirsty. Do not miss the best panini we’ve ever eaten! Highly recommend! Grazie, Dario!
