Tipu Sultan Fort and Palace - Bangalore KR Market
After meeting and greeting, the Govt. of India Approved and licensed guide shall accompany you and show Tipu Palace. Its a 230 year old palace, all in teak wood, and built in typical Islamic architecture, showing the diwas-e-am and diwan-e-khas. Also, a brief history of Tipu Sultan, his trysts with the French, the Anglo-Mysore wars, his contributions and controversies shall all be discussed. A visit to the Museum in the premises throws more light on how he came to be known as the Grandfather of Rocket Science in the whole world!
Kote Venkataramana Temple
This temple is adjoining the Tipu Palace. It was built in 1690 AD by Chikkadevaraja Wodeyar and showcases wonderful stone sculptures of Indian mythological characters on its walls. The highly carved and ornate stone columns inside the temple reflect high quality workmanship of our artists. Hindu devotees have to book months in advance to offer "Kalyanotsava" (marriage ceremony of Lord Vishnu with Lakshmi) in this temple. It is said that the Garuda Gamba of this temple saved Tipu Sultan from a cannon ball attack from Cornwallis which would have otherwise fell on his palace. The next stop is the Bangalore Fort which is a 10 minute walk from here.

Nice short walking tour with a highlight at the very busy market. Perfect if you're just getting into town and need to stay up and walk around to help with jet lag. Our guide spoke through history and answered questions well. He didn't proactively offer taking photos but did so if asked. Wouldn't recommend if you're uncomfortable in very very crowded spaces with scooters zipping close by.

All visits were good and interesting. The guide after this tour proposed to show me silk manufacture and shops… and I could not stop it and decide what I wanted to do for afternoon. I finally dare to say stop.

While I had been to Bangaluru before, I had never taken a tour and it was fun to go to places I had not seen. I especially liked KR Market! The flowers were so beautiful! I learned a lot about the palace, fort, and history of the area. Also fun to see the flying foxes (large bats) in the trees around the palace. Varun was knowledgeable and very passionate about history so we were a good match

I recently joined the Bengaluru Pété Walk with Vanaja as my guide, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. This tour truly packs in everything—art, architecture, religion, history, color, culture, aromas, cuisine, noise, and the beautiful chaos that gives the old city its pulse. It’s the kind of experience that has to be felt firsthand to be fully appreciated. Each stop revealed another layer of Bengaluru’s past and present. Walking through KR Market was a highlight in itself—a vivid tapestry of flowers, produce, and nonstop activity that awakened every sense. The Jain Temple offered a contrasting moment of serenity, rounding out a thoughtfully curated journey through the many identities of the Pété. What made the experience exceptional, however, was Vanaja. Her deep knowledge and personal connection to the city brought meaning to everything we saw. She shared history in a way that felt alive, weaving together stories that helped me understand how these spaces continue to shape modern Bengaluru. Just as importantly, Vanaja was warm, attentive, and consistently mindful of my safety in what can be a bustling environment. Navigating the streets of the old city could easily feel overwhelming, but in her care I felt completely at ease and able to absorb the experience rather than worry about logistics. If you want to understand the true spirit of Bengaluru—this walk is essential. I left with a deeper appreciation for the city and the sense that I had experienced something far richer than a typical walking tour.

We very much enjoyed the tour with our lovely guide. She gave us a first introduction to India, which was so interesting and necessary:) We got to see the inside of the temples and the market, things we probably wouldn't do ourselves in the first few days n India. We recommend:)
