Jewish Quarter of Toledo

The oldest written documents that we have from Jews in Toledo are from the fourth century, in the Roman era, although it is possible that they established themselves in the city before then. On our tour, we will walk through the narrow streets of the old Jewish quarter, visiting the main monuments and underground archaeological remains that made this Jewish quarter one of the most important in Europe.

We had a great experience! Our family, 2 adults and 3 teenagers, took a train in from Madrid. Javier, our guide, recommended that we stop at a look out point to see the entire City before entering the City. That was a great start. Once we got into Toledo, Javier was very knowledgeable about the history of the city. He was patient and answered our many questions. He also took care of the entrance tickets so we did not have to worry about that before our arrival. We highly recommend this tour!

I highly recommend this private tour. Javi was a wonderful guide, very informative, accommodating and a pleasure to be with. Along the way there were a couple secret sites that only a tour operator would know of and have access to. Thank you Javi!!

I thoroughly enjoyed my tour with Sonia. Not only was she very personable , but she was also very knowledgeable about the history of Toledo and the various cultures that have inhabited the city through the centuries. As an American, it is a bit difficult to conceive of a history that dates back so far! She brought the history to life for me. A lovely tour. Thank you, Sonia.

My family and I had a truly impressive experience with Daniel, an expert guide with a command of the unique history of Toledo and its Jewish community (the focus of our tour.) I will send everyone I know coming to Spain to Toledo, and specifically request Daniel. Cannot recommend highly enough.

We’ve just completed the most amazing tour with Javi, he made the Jewish quarter come alive with his knowledge and attention to detail .. we were even able to access the basement of a house which he had privileged to have keys to which was a recently found Jewish house Javi was always mindful that it was our tour to customise as we wished and was delightful company .. I highly recommend this company

Our Toledo tour with Javier was nothing short of spectacular. He was so welcoming, warm, and energetic. He truly went above and beyond and explained everything with great detail and passion. My daughter and I were able to learn so much about the Jewish history in this historic city. He took us to two different synagogues and showed us the various Jewish symbols throughout the Jewish Quarter and even brought us to a place with unique history outside of our itinerary. We were so lucky to have him and this experience was the highlight of our 11 day trip which originated in Granada, followed by Seville and Madrid. Highly recommend him!!!

Toledo has the best Jewish quarter of any Spanish city. While there are only a few remaining actual sites, the synagogue is spectacular. Archaeological evidence keeps appearing. Our tour included a brief overview of Toledo and the cathedral as we walked towards the quarter. As we walked Javi graciously shared his experiences as a Spaniard and the challenges of society. Strongly recommend Javi and this tour for a most informative and inspiring experience.
