  Summit Tolima mountain is not as hard as what people were describing. My husband is 70 year old and I met a 70 year old Colombian lady trekking along us too. The hard part I think is because the agency made the team trek from Vancouver farm to hot spring then to high camp in one day, then next morning at 2am to summit. It will be better for the body if the team takes it easier from Palomar goes straight to hot spring 9hrs hike. Rest for the night, then head to high camp next day (4hrs moderate hike), rest early then get up early to summit. The route to summit from high camp is quite short. You can start at 3am and reach summit easily by 7:30am. The summit is a dismal as it is flat like a football field. You don’t feel like you’ve reach the summit. The tricky rocky part in the middle seems a bit technical and scary during the dark but when you come down, is not as scary as it looks. Crampon only needs to start at 4,950m and a short one then you reach summit. Overall, is not too hard on the body. Also husband read so much about deep mud along the trail. This is a hit and miss. We bought gum boots but never use the entire trip as we were lucky with the weather. So just have gum boots ready but not necessarily you might need it. Is the downhill to Salento that is hard work for me. Lots of mud and down for probably 1,500m and take us ~ 6.5hrs.

  We had an amazing time with Santiago and his team, an amazing organization, very professional, always listening, he gave us excellent advice during the 4 days of the trek, in good times, as well as in more difficult times, because of the altitude. Again thank you for all Santiago 🙏, I highly recommend Quimbayas Trail, during the trek I could see other much less serious guides, I will definitely do a next tour with him

  Had a great and challenging time on this trip. It sucked that it was essentially a white out when we made it to the summit but it will always be an accomplishment and experience I look back upon fondly. Santiago, Juan, John, and Luisa were outstanding guides! This was definitely not for the faint of heart and even though I would say I am in pretty good shape in the span of 3 days we did nearly 90km of total hiking. Summiting Nevado del Tolima is a very grueling effort and is not for the physically or mentally weak attempt.

• Super high altitude hike to the Tolima summit with Yasid

  Yasid is an independent guide recommended to us by another guide (Julio Sanchez) in El Cocuy NP. After contacting us, Yasid organized the 4D/3N hike perfectly for us and was super flexible with the dates and wishes. Both the logistics, the equipment (crampon, ice axe, tents etc.) and the food were very good, Yasid is an attentive top guide that we would recommend anytime! We had a great hike despite the rainy season and the Tolima peak is just breathtaking! In the rainy season we had to hike through a lot of mud and a swamp-like páramo, so I would definitely recommend the dry season to enjoy the hike to the maximum:) Yasid Dulima +573112895491

  I inquired about the trekking tour to the nevado de tolima. Santiago was extremely friendly and gave me professional advice. He answered quickly. In response to my email request, he contacted me via WhatsApp and discussed everything else with me there. Later he sent his offer via Mail. This is how I imagine professional advice for a trip of this kind. Unfortunately, the dates on which the tour takes place did not suit me. Otherwise I would certainly have booked with his agency. I had the feeling that I would have been in really good hands there. Thank you in any case for the great advice!

  Of the best I have had in my life, thank you for this experience 4 days full of pure fun and culture for him. Natural park the snowy... Super recommended!!
