  The Culinary Backstreets food tour with Erika was a highlight of my time in Guadalajara. The food was excellent, but what set the experience apart was the insight into local culture, history, and traditions. Erika was knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about both the city and its cuisine. I especially loved visiting the small, family-run eateries with multiple generations involved in the business. They made the experience feel authentic and deeply rooted in the community. This was my second tour with Culinary Backstreets, and it certainly won’t be my last. I recommend their tours to anyone who wants to understand a place through its food.

  Such a great experience! Eliza, our guide, was a radiant beam of light, not only exploring mouth watering foods, but sharing history and connections to people and places. Def will recommend this tour to my friends and family.

  We had an amazing tour in Guadalajara with Eliza as our guide. She was incredible—so knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely passionate about the city. The food we tried was absolutely delicious, and her insights into the history and culture made the experience even more special. We learned so much while eating incredibly well. Highly, highly recommend this tour, especially with Eliza!

  I recently joined a Culinary Backstreets tour in Guadalajara led by Eliza, and it was easily one of the most enriching cultural experiences I’ve had in the city. This is not your typical “walk, taste, and go” food tour. Eliza brings extraordinary depth to every stop — blending history, migration, regional identity, local characters, and culinary traditions into a story that’s both fascinating and heartfelt. She has a true gift for making the city reveal itself in layers. Her group management is seamless, her storytelling is masterful, and she creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere where everyone stays engaged. I walked a lot (my feet can confirm 😆), but every step was worth it. I came away with a deeper understanding of the cuisine and the cultural roots of Nuevo Galicia, as well as a fresh appreciation for modern Guadalajara’s vibrant food scene. If you’re looking for a tour that goes far beyond the surface and truly connects you with the heart of the city, this is the one. Highly recommended.

  We had a marvelous food and culture excursion in Guadalajara with Eliza of Culinary Backstreets. Her knowledge and enthusiasm for the city enriched our visit with historical and cultural context. We were with our adult daughter and her husband, who booked this tour. We will seek Culinary Backstreets in other cities after this excellent experience.

  My wife, daughter, son-in-law and I, all discerning foodies, reuned in Guadalajara on Thanksgiving. Our kids suggested a Culinary Backstreets tour, bless their hearts! Eliza was our wonderful guide. Enthusiastic, knowledgeable, personable, articulate, considerate, patient, kind and fun, she curated and choreographed our movements throughout the city masterfully, providing us with information and insights we would never find in guidebooks. For nearly six hours, we strolled and chatted our way through charming neighborhoods, sampling and savoring various restaurants’ specialties from different regions and traditional styles.   Eliza was fantastic. We loved eating food, learning history, and delving into ongoing society. It was the perfect ratio of food to walking and information. The entire tour was exceptionally well thought out and planned. If considering, just do it!

  Eliza is a bundle of historical information wrapped in global context and intimate dining experiences. We learned a lot about the history, current events and personality of some of the colonias in Guadalajara. We have really started to fall in love with this city. Eliza’s expertise is invaluable. Every visitor should start their visit with this tour. You will not regret it.

  Such a fun and delicious day in Guadalajara with Eliza! She is a great guide... very friendly, funny, and fun to hang out with. My husband and I learned a lot about the typical foods of Guadalajara as well as about the history and culture of the city. As with most Culinary Backstreets tours, I highly recommend!

  Our tour with Eliza was absolutely amazing. She is a truly knowledgable guide that presented the stories of Guadalajara in such a fun and engaging way.
